Life in the pacific northwest

Well, aren't we just taking a pounding up here.

If you watched the game last night between the 49ers and Seahawks, the pronouncers may have given you a false sense of what was happening to us weather-wise. We've been getting our dresses blown up over our heads y'all!!!

Most natives don't use umbrellas - it rains sideways here and the wind just yanks the things right out of your hands. We wear hoodies and tough it out.

Hurricane force gales have been uprooting trees, tearing roofs off buildings, and knocking out power to a reported one million customers in the Puget Sound area. We're getting walloped.

But we remain hearty folk. I'm one of the fortunate ones - I have power at home. My office building is out, so I've got another weather day. I'm spending it watching The West Wing season 7 on DVD.

Mother Nature does enjoy her little games though. After hellacious wind and rain over the last two days, I look out my window now and see a small patch of blue sky and calm. But the advance forecast looks like more rain is headed our way, and temperatures appear to be dropping. We could get more snow by Monday, or things could change again.

We won't know till we get there I guess.

Eeeek! Well, at least you can still enjoy some good viewing on TV! Hugs!

  1. Oh geez! This must be part of the El Nino phenomenon because we are rather balmy and mild in the East.

Get a blanket, Pam and some hot chocolate. Rent all of the Police Academy movies (except 6) and have fun!

Ann: I guess the only thing that kept them from calling what we had a hurricane was the fact that we had pine trees crashing around us instead of palm trees. Sheesh!

Meri: Yeppers! Watched all of season 7 today. Woooooooooo!!

Diana: I'll take that advice thanks. But we'll sub in The West Wing and season 4 of Dead Zone.

Yeesh, we have friends in the Seattle area. They were without power for just one day fortunately. I am not missing that inclement weather at all!
