Good news for Harry Potter fans. Daniel Radcliffe has signed to portray Harry for the final two films in the series. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" premiers July 13. Shooting starts in September on "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince", with the film scheduled for a November 2008 release. Rupert Grint will star once again as Ron Weasley for "Prince", and has expressed interest in doing the final film. Although Emma Watson had not committed as of December to portray Hermione Granger in the last films, it is anticipated that she will. The final book in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" releases in July. Click here for more details.

Im glad the main characters are deciding to say. It just wouldn't seem right to switch right in the middle. My neice and nephew love this series and it's all there fault that I got addicted to:)

  1. I love how this series has succeeded both in print and on film. I also love having watched these kids age. So here's to seeing the last in the series.

  1. I can't wait for the movies and the book.

  1. Well, this post must mean you survived hell week... this post and the comments on my blog :o) Thanks for dropping by.

  1. Ann: Yes he is.

Wolfbaby: Feed this addiction. It's reasonably harmless.

Stewart: I raise a glass with you to the success of both.

John: For the last 3 book releases, I have picked them up on a Saturday morning and read them twice through before Monday. I suspect this time will be no different.

Imma: I have survived the initial phase of hell week.

  1. Sweet! I'm glad to hear this news. I can't imagine Emma Watson NOT playing Hermione; it was bad enough when Richard Harris died (still not liking Michael Gambon much). Daniel is indeed growing older, but then again so is Harry. The books have gotten progressively darker, and I think that Daniel, Rupert, and Emma are quite capable of growing with their characters.

This July should be fun with Order of the Phoenix in theaters and Deathly Hallows in my mailbox!

(My daughter and I are addicted to this series, can you tell?)

  1. Songbird: I'm addicted too! I can't imagine any other Hermione and I hope Emma finishes the films.

  1. I think I might have to be one of those people at the bookstore at midnight the night the book goes on sale for this one. I'm worried that the secrets in this book will be hard to keep secret for long and I don't want it to be spoiled.
