Power of Schmooze
Posted: Tuesday, July 10, 2007 by Travis Cody inPam and I had a wonderful evening getting to know our neighbors last night. We shared some wine and some snacks, and yakked for a couple hours. It was the usual stuff - what we do, what we like, how'd we get here.
Now Pam and these three gals are likely to make quite the powerful female foursome. They are each independent, strong feminine types. I'm sure I'm out of my league.
But they do think I'm cute, so I guess I have that going for me.
So dear Sanni from Coffee 2 Go has kindly awarded me this:
I'm not sure where this originated, but it's kind of cool. Here's the basic deal that is getting passed around:
As it goes, schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.
I've worked with sales guys for a long time, so when I first hear the word "schmooze" it has a negative connotation. But this particular definition being passed around the bloggosphere actually is kind of endearing.
And this is what Sanni had to say about me:
Trav´s Thought´s are a daily must-read. He´s an excellent writer. I love to read his short stories and poems, the music - and "Dancing"-posts. Keep on schmoozing, Trav!
I think when we visit new blogs and leave comments, it increases the sense of community some bloggers feel. So when I see a new name in my comments, I try to get over to that person's blog within a day or so. Sometimes it's just a passing thing. But other times that other blog makes it into bookmarks and becomes a daily visit, and then I end up linking them.
So thank you Sanni!
heh heh heh...well, ya got it again from me. ;)
Congrats x2 Trav!
