SeaFair

It's SeaFair here in Seattle. Lots of great activities on and around Lake Washington all this past week and through the weekend.

Fleet Week began Aug 1 and runs through Aug 5, welcoming the US Navy, US Coast Guard, and Canadian Navy. A main feature is the Elliot Bay Parade of ships. You can also catch a ride on a Navy or Coast Guard vessel.

The Chevrolet Cup hydroplane races are always exciting.

And the Blue Angels perform at the air show sponsored by KeyBank and Boeing. We got to see some of the practice from our office windows on Wednesday. A couple of times they buzzed our building and then headed back out over Lake Washington, which is about three miles from my office. This video was taken by some people out on the lake Thursday during the practice. They do their shows Friday through Sunday, and we can see a lot of it from home.

You can click here to read more about SeaFair and see some more videos of the Blue Angels and hydroplanes. It's way cool stuff.

There are art festivals and outdoor concerts and lots of great seafood to be had all around the area. And tonight is the Aero FireDancer Performance pyrotechnic air show with fireworks to follow over Lake Washington.

Of course, one of the drawbacks is bridge closures over I-90 and SR-520. That makes traffic a real bitch if you're trying to get anywhere.

But, while you're sitting in traffic you can watch the Blue Angels perform. I've lived here long enough now to understand that you find the bright spots and make the best of any inconvenience like bad weather or increasing traffic. It's part of the price you pay for living in and around the Emerald City.

You know what? I ain't ready to trade it any time soon either.

Awww crap! Your video went AWOL and as I scrolled I didn't see any!

It sounds like a real cool festival and I'm glad you shared it with us!

I was going to do a post on our local festival but it unfortunately got overshadowed with something else.

Check into your videos while I wait in anticipation for their return!
