Encores and results
Posted: Wednesday, October 10, 2007 by Travis Cody inHey y'all, I'm still getting through blog rounds.
There were two votes from readers. Thanks to Kyra and Julie. Now I didn't actually say that you had to vote for the celebrity. I thought that was a given. But evidently the power of the bare chested Maks was simply too much to handle.
I almost could not find the Jive performed by Mel and Maks. Some of the clips are hiding today. But here it is. You can scroll through the rehearsal footage to about 1:36.
OK y'all. I reviewed this and said I didn't see what excited the judges on Mel's Tango. After watching it again, I revise my comments. I missed what was good in that dance on Monday. The ladies say it was Maks, but Mel really nailed that Jive. I must have fallen asleep for a few minutes. Doh!
Pam and I both smiled through the Tango from Marie and Jonathan. The rehearsal clip is fun, but if you want you can scroll through to 1:40.
I was inspired by the Tango from Ms Jane and Tony. I thought it was classy and elegant, dramatic and passionate. And luckily I found the video clip.
And cue music!
Samantha Harris returns next week. We'll miss Drew. But rumor has it that he will be joining Bruno and Carrie Ann for some professional ballroom dancing competitions soon. We're on the watch for that baby!
The judges decide they want to see the Tango from Jennie and Derek. They went from falling down to judges' darlings. Good for Jennie! Oh hell...yes you can have a fourth encore. You can scroll to 1:53 or so to skip rehearsal footage.
Ms Jane and Tony continue, as do Jennie and Derek.
Now we have a performance from Grammy winner Seal. Kiss From A Rose is one of my favorite songs. And the waltz was beautiful too.
Marie and Jonathan are safe, as are Mel and Maks.
And it's the return of Billy Ray Cyrus performing with daughter Mylie. Uhm...that's singing y'all, not dancing.
Seal returns with a new song called Amazing. Meh.
Ah! A feature on Harold Wheeler and the band. It seems that the pairs get the original recordings for their particular dance on CD right after the results on Tuesday night. The first time they hear the live music is during rehearsal for the live performance show. Each pair only has about 10 minutes with the band. They can offer suggestions to make the music better or match the choreography better. And then Harold goes back to perfect the music. And then it's show time. Cool.
But one is often puzzled by some of the music choices.
Sabrina and Mark return next week, along with Cameron and Edyta. All the gals have advanced.
The last two safe couples are Helio & Julianne and Mark & Kym, putting Floyd & Karina and Wayne & Cheryl in the bottom two.
Wayne and Cheryl are out, so Floyd and Karina return next week.
Next week is Paso Doble and Viennese Waltz. Don't forget that you can be a part of my results posts by voting for an encore dance. Even if you don't or can't watch the performance show on Monday night, pick your favorite celebrity - hear that Kyra and Julie??? - and tell me in comments or an email that's who you want to see.
Later babies!
I think that "stars" is overstating it a bit - I don't even know lots of these people.
