A bit of the white stuff

About this time last year, I wrote this about the weather.

It rained pretty hard on Monday. In the late afternoon I glanced out the window and as I watched, the rain turned solid. Within 5 minutes of my looking out the window it was snowing. We didn't get a lot of it...maybe 1-2 inches in my area. We certainly didn't get as much as we got last January.

I didn't get to take any pictures of it at the condo, because it just didn't last that long. But it was sure pretty while it lasted.

This is near where I work.

  1. I like the blue tint to everything. It just seems to go with ice and snow.

    Ooooh, purty!!

  1. I like to watch beginning (or bad!)artists -they always use white and gray, maybe some black to show snow. Uh, uh. It's full of color!
Your photos highlight that very well!
I would love to live in your area...

Trav - as beautiful as those photos are - and they are really gorgeous, ya know -it still won't change my opinion about snow! Which is this - that snow is best seen on someone else's house, trimming someone else's trees, coating someone else's driveway and highways - just so it isn't mine!
Ok - I'm not quite that much of a curmudgeon about the white, cold, fluffy stuff - almost, but not quite, at least not yet anyway.

I've found from spending a few days in Alabama that I may very well prefer snow just like this.. in pictures...

    very nice though!

It's so beautiful. Isn't snow amazing!? It makes the landscape magical.

When I visited New York in 2005 it snowed - record snow shutting all the airports etc - but it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen and made the visit unforgetable.

Oh yeah....those are very pretty pictures. Thanks for sharing Travis!

  1. I have heard of this "snow." I believe it's a myth however.

  1. So pretty. We are awaiting snow here tonight. Great photos.

  1. Songbird: You know, I thought something was wrong with my camera when the pictures came out with that blue tint.

    Gail: Isn't it?

Gracie: I don't like it when it gets slushy though...that's when it starts to lose its color.

Jeni: Luckily we don't get a lot of snow.

Ann: Well, you get too much where you are...the kind that needs to be shoveled. I don't like that kind.

Matt: Give it time. I'm sure you'll have more than you want before the winter is over.

    Lisa: Really? That's very odd.

Lois: I love it best when I don't have to go anywhere and can just enjoy it.

    Sarge: LOL!

Bee: Well it definitely is cold!

  1. Sandee: It's much better this year with the shorter commute.

Jeff: It was definitely enjoyable and it didn't freeze like last year.

    Kyra: You didn't get any?

Wolfbaby: Good to see you making the rounds!

    Akelamalu: Me too!

TC: I don't know how I'd do if I was in a place where it snowed for several months, but I like it for a day or two.

Julie: It's just about all gone now.

Charles: Nope...I didn't even photoshop my pictures.

    Mimi: Will you have pictures?

  1. RW says:

Nice photos! I am so sick of it already, you can have all of are snow Travis, I will wrap in dry ice for you!

  1. The pics are gorgeous...

  1. Ewwwwwwwwww! *Flees in abject horror from the white stuff Which Will Not Be Named.*

  1. Nice! We got snow in the air and a pain in the but school delay on Monday. Now it is just darn cold.

I love the snow pics :)

No snow here at all, just bloody cold, wet and generally miserable!

  1. Linda says:

I like looking at pictures of snow a lot more than I do driving in it or shoveling it! Of course, that's probably a New England thing on my part!

  1. Roger: I wouldn't want to deprive you of it.

    Terra: Thanks!

    Lana: **tosses snowballs**

Starr: We didn't get that same kind of freeze that we got last year after the "big" snowstorm.

Claire: Cold, wet, and miserable equals yucky!

Linda: We get the benefit without all the extra work.

And we were so excited about our little dusting :P
