Former Seattle Mariners pitcher Jamie Moyer raised the 12th Man flag at Quest today and whipped the crowed into a frenzy. Seattle's defense promptly forced a 3 and out on Washington's first offensive possesion.

Shawn Alexander just fumbled, but looking at the replay it is clear that both his knees were on the ground before the ball came out. The fumble call was correctly reversed and Seattle gets a 17 yard TD run on the next play. Pam is a'whoopin' and a'hollerin' now!

The Seahawk pass rush is getting tons of pressure on Todd Collins and just forced what looked like a fumble. I thought at first the call on the field was a fumble, but then they said it was an incomplete pass. The replay sure looks like the ball came out before Collins' arm started forward. But since the ref said incomplete, the play can't be challenged.

Seattle's defense is really starting to play well. Washington can't get the run game going, forcing a lot of 3rd and long situations. That just turns the pass rush loose. And Washington isn't playing with any kind of passion at all.

Washington hasn't been able to figure out how to deal with Seattle's pass rush through the entire first half. Fortunately for Redskins fans, Washington's defense is also playing well and only trails 10-0. That's making Pam a little nervous.

The Redskins have finally been able to move the ball. They just got a big break on a 4th down pass interference call. And they punch it into the endzone to pull to within one score.

Here's something I didn't know. Washington QB Todd Collins has a perfect rating in the 4th quarter. What does that mean? It means that he's pretty good at the end of a game...doesn't turn the ball over and gets touchdowns.

Pam is grumpy. And now she's pissed because Washington just picked off Hasselbeck. The entire feel of the game has changed. Seattle didn't do nearly enough when they had the upper hand, and now the Redskins are taking charge in all phases.

Touchdown Redskins! And the 12th Man goes silent. Ruh roh.

Seattle just made a huge mistake on the kickoff. They couldn't catch the ball on the bounce. That's a live ball and the Redskins recovered it and are in business at the Seattle 14 yard line. Fortunately for Seattle, Washington was unable to score and Pam is breathing again.

Ooops. Hasselbeck just got picked off again. Seattle's defense needs to step up big.

The Seahawks get a huge drive and score. The 2pt conversion makes it 21-14.

And now Pam is doing the victory dance! Seattle just picked off Collins and ran it back for a TD. So much for Collins' perfect QB rating in the 4th quarter.

That's one of the quickest reversals of fortune you'll see. For about 8 game minutes it looked like Washington was about to steal this game. And then Uncle Mo (that's the fickle fate of momentum) yanked off the Redskins jersey and pulled on that ugly thing the Seahawks wear.

The Redskins' magic has run out. There's another interception for a TD just to put the final exclamation point on the win. Tomorrow this is going to look like a blow out, but it really wasn't.

Pam just picked up my football notebook to mark down the result and told me that I actually have Seattle underlined. For some reason in my preview post below I decided to pick Washington.

So what do you think? Should I credit myself with a win based on the pick I had on Thursday? Or should I mark one in the loss column based on my feeling this morning that Washington was going to win?

They say when you take a multiple choice test that you should always go with your first instinct. So I'm 1-0 on my playoff picks so far.

Maybe you could take a tie. The NFL hasn't had one in over four years. I think it's about time.

Congrats to Pam! and I'll aquiesce and say score that as your first correct pick.

    Thanks for the recap.

You have a football notebook? I know you Americans love your sports - but a 'football notebook' Travis???? Are you sure you're supposed to be taking notes?????? :)

Arrrrgggggg... can you tell this Canadian is not much of a sports fan....?

  1. Jeff: I originally picked Seattle on Thursday so I'm going with the winner.

Heather: Well yeah! Where else can I keep track of the schedules and stats I need to make my picks?
