So I was making rounds when I cruised over to Sanni's for a quick Coffee 2 Go. She has a post today about one hit wonders, with a poll asking if her readers have a favorite.

Well that sent me way back to 1971 and the song that was my favorite when I was a kid...Sweet City Woman by The Stampeders.

I used to sing this all the time and drive my mom nuts!

Kids are suppose to drive their parents nuts. It's the law! LOL :P

  1. ah yes...and it makes you wonder what the rest of that concert was like! LOL

I might have that in my head the rest of the night - dang you all man

  1. I really like that song. There's nothing like a song that drills into your brain as an earworm and won't leave.

Somewhat in line with this, I put up a song that almost no one knows from a romantic movie that almost no one has seen. We are talking one of the all time mushies.

I loved that one too Travis. I was 19 years old then. Oh my. You and Pam have a great weekend sweetie. :)

  1. I'm kind of partial to "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain, myself.

  1. Jeff B says:

Did that group actually write any other music?

  1. Akelamalu says:

I had just had my eldest in 1971 and Simon & Garfunkel were my favourites then.

  1. Julie says:

Oh! I loved this song! I really did!

  1. probably "My sharona" is my favorite one hit wonder.

  1. Kimmie says:

"She feeds me love and tenderness and macaroons"

Love, Love, Loved this song! Thanks Trav for the walk down memory lane.

Charles...My Sharonna was an Awesome toon also!!! Loved that one as well. Now it will be stuck in my head all night. The beginning...with the instruments starting the song! LOL!

Akelamalu...I am a big Simon and Garfunkle fan. I used to sing some of their songs while playing the folk guitar when I was in my 20's. My favorite...Scarborough Fair. Have you heard of "Joshua Radin"??? They say he is the new Simon/Garfunkle. He is amazing. I have some of his music on my blog. Check it out if you want to. He sings with a young women in most of his songs and they sound just amazing together. All his songs seem to have a little story to them. My current favorite new artist. His new hit is Today. I have it loaded on my blog with just him singing it, but he has been performing it with the young woman whenever I see him on a show. He sang it on Ellen about 2 months ago. You can go to her site and see it.

Trav...again...always a pleasure to stop buy and visit here. You have so much to enjoy here!

    Blessings,
    Kimmie

Thanks for coming by...didn't my kiddo look cute in the snow?!!

1971 was the year I was born *smile* but I have heard that song a bunch and like it too. I am going over to the one hit wonders post after I leave here - it sounds cool.

My mom liked a song when I was a kid by Dr. Hook (?) and I don't remember what it was. I don't think she could either but I may ask. ANYWAY, back from the rabbit hunt, I liked it too back then because 1 - it was a good song & 2- the name Dr. Hook intrigued me. My imagination ran wild with that!

Meri: Then I was a good kid!

V: My job is done. LOL!

Sandee: I haven't heard it in ages. I haven't found the right version on iTunes.

    Lana: That's a good song.

Jeff: They had a couple of #1 hits in Canada and 3 top 100 songs in the US. But the only one I could sing for you would be Sweet City Woman.

    Akelamalu: I like them too.

    Julie: Really?

    Charles: That's a good one.

Kimmie: Isn't that a great line?

Jennifer: Dr Hook was one of my favorite bands from the 70's.
