Well, I started out yesterday after work with 123 unread posts in Google Reader.

Yikes!

I'm down to 40 posts now. I'm flipping the list upside down, so if I didn't get to you last night you'll be first in line tonight.

Now let's see some tulips! You can click on any photo to biggify.

1. Last Saturday, Pam and I headed north to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The weather was fantastic...a little hazy, but enough blue sky and sunshine to make us smile. That's Mt Baker in the distance.

2. Well, we went to see tulips. But the first thing we saw was daffodils!

3. Aren't they pretty?

4. But we went to see tulips, and tulips we finally saw.

5. This guy was stubbornly growing off by himself.

6. This field of white tulips was one of Pam's favorites.

7. So there's really a place called Tulip Town. I'm not kidding.

8. We loved this tree.

9. Check out the colorful fields.

10. I didn't know tulips could be orange.

11. I think I liked the pink ones best.

12. Classic yellow is nice too.

13. But now here's the real hi-light of the day! Sleek and elegant. We saw the Baby Bird on our way home. I shot the pic on the fly...luckily we were in pretty slow traffic.

We had a wonderful day.

    Great pictures, Trav. I love, love, love tulips. Yep, looks like you had a terrific day.

  1. I've always planned to make the drive to see the tulips - it's not THAT far for me... but, just haven't done it yet. They are so lovely - makes me want to go buy myself a bouquet!

    Lovely T-Bird - I agree - seeing it would be worth driving all day :)

  1. I adore tulips, and I've always wanted to see Skagit Valley. Alas, I didn't live in Bremerton all that long and never made it out there. Perhaps one day we'll make back up there for vacay and we'll schedule it in time for the festival.

    Love all the photos!!!

  1. bulb flowers are my fave...they look spectacular...and great photos!

  1. Kimmie says:

    Tulips in abundant colors that form their very own rainbow. It dosn't get any better than that. Thanks Travis for sharing, what a wonderful sight to wake up to.
    Smiles,
    Kimmie

  1. Julie says:

    And you know how I feel about tulips! **sigh**

    I'm so glad I have a vase of them now...if not-I would be going out to buy some!

    Thanks for sharing these pictures sweetie.

  1. Matt-Man says:

    Great Shots, Travis. If you get the chance, see if you can find some black tulips. In the right place they look sweet. Cheers!!

  1. DrillerAA says:

    Great pics!
    And any trip that ends with a '57 bird is a trip worth taking.

  1. Marsha says:

    Sa-weeettt ride and beautiful flowers!!

  1. the teach says:

    Oh Travis, what a trip! Your photos are so colorful and sharp! Love them! Would love to go on a trip like that! BTW, thanks for joining the "What if..." meme. I like your message... :D

  1. Jeni says:

    Had to giggle a bit over your unread blog posts dilemma and that you will flip it and start from the other end when you pick up again today. Made me think about how many times I run out of steam and do the same thing here!

    Beautiful pictures of the tulips and daffodils too though. I have daffodils blooming now in front of my living room window and some tulips have poked through the ground now too and will be blooming soon as well. Love to see that happen.

  1. Bond says:

    WOOOO! I have been waiting for these...and you never mentioned the baby bird...
    Worth all the miles you traveled my friend...

    BEAUTIFUL

  1. Ivanhoe says:

    Wow, fields of flowers! I could go see that. I've seen other colors of tulips too in Europe - dark purple was my favorite. Liked that T-bird as well :o) Happy TT!

  1. Anndi says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOO! Spring!

    Beautiful pics dear... I've always loved tulips. There were some wild ones growing by the old place...

    The daffodils remind me of Alabama in March *sigh*

    OOH! and I think I saw something coming out of the ground in front of the house!

  1. Akelamalu says:

    Oh those tulips are just beautiful, well all the photos are great in fact.

  1. Mo says:

    I love it that you feature all the pretty flowers, then end up with the hot car!
    There is a town in Michigan (Holland, Michigan, actually!) that is very similar! Lots of tulips everywhere.

  1. How awesome! I love daffodils, too. They're the nat'l flower of Wales, whose patron St. is David ("Dafyd" in Welsh--I'm sure there's a connection there.) The tulips & old car were also very neat!

  1. Lovely photos. What a perfect day!

  1. I've forgotten about that festival. heard about it a few years ago. WOW...that had to have been awesome!

    I so *heart* spring blooms.

    Sounds like a perfect day!

  1. Travis says:

    Lizza: We sure did!

    Heather: I hope they do ok with this colder weather we're expecting in the next several days.

    Songbird: It was certainly worth the trip!

    Katherine: Thanks! I wasn't sure they would come out so well.

    Kimmie: They really were gorgeous.

    Julie: We really should get some for the house before the season is over.

    Matt: Black tulips?

    Drilleraa: Yup...the only thing better would have been a '56!

    Marsha: Agreed on both counts!

    Teach: I hope we can take more scenic drives this summer...there's so much to see!

  1. Meribah says:

    Such beautiful pictures, and I love flowers! Daffodils and tulips are so pretty aren't they? Glad y'all had a fun time. Hugs! :)

  1. Travis says:

    Jeni: Heehee! Before google reader it took two days to get through my favorites, and I'd have to flip the list every other day!

    V: The Baby Bird was a bonus!

    Ivanhoe: I'll have to research the other colors...I really didn't realize there were so many!

    Charles: Indeed.

    Ann: Watch out! Don't scare that little growth!

    Akelamalu: We really had a great day.

    Mo: Naturally!

    Lana: It was just an all around cool day!

    Mimi: Yup!

    Lois: We were really looking forward to going, and it turns out we picked the perfect weekend because it's about to get cold again.

  1. Wow, Trav, those are some awesome photos. All the way through though, I kept thinking that I still liked #1 best... then I saw the Baby Bird and my tongue fell out of my mouth. Birds seem to be coming into my life right now (already have 2 budgie birds, am getting a cockatiel as soon as I get a cage for it, and another budgie as soon as it's old enough to leave the nest... and now I've just agreed to birdie sit a parrot for 3 months starting this Monday, and maybe keep it forever), but none of these birds come close to the Bird in your photo. I've always loved the old 50 something T-Birds.

  1. Whoof! Hi Travis. My Mom 'Bean used to have a '69 Olds Cutlass convertible and the dog she had, D-O`-G, rode in the back seat all the time. Sure sounds good to me, Bark, bark.

  1. That is a truly beautiful post through and through Trav. Boy, I would have loved to have seen that in person, thank you for sharing.

  1. Roger says:

    Wow Travis ya got the screen busting with color. Thats some fine looking country out there!!

  1. Kidlet and I may hit the Woodburn tulip festival. We thought about it last weekend but ended up doing a four hour drive through the country and coast. It was lovely!

  1. Breathtaking!!! We're really close to the big Jackson Perkins rose farms. Driving by and seeing hundreds of acres of roses in bloom is an incredible experience!
    I think it's interesting that the Dutch used tulips bulbs for currency!!! I wonder if the pink were the most expensive!
    ~~~Blessings~~~
  1. Wow, this place is breathtaking! I wanna go there. :)
    Great shots. In the last one, I was looking on the ground for a bird. *LOL* It took me a little bit to get it.
  1. Travis says:
    Meri: They smelled so good at Tulip Town too.
    Alice: We actually saw two Baby Birds. This black one, and then a white '55. We couldn't get a pic of the white one though.
    Reba: Cool!
    Misty: Even though there was a lot of traffic and so many people, it was still kind of relaxing. We definitely needed to get out and about.
    Roger: It really was! And we picked the right weekend to go for weather...we've got cold and some snow this weekend!
    Starr: We're planning a trip to the coast for one of these weekends coming up when the weather finally turns for good.
    Gracie: Oh roses!
    CWM: LOL! Sorry about that confusion there!
