I have only selected one encore dance. This is the Samba from Cristian and Cheryl.

Here's the leader board from Monday...

57 Kristi & Mark
56 Cristian & Cheryl
55 Jason & Edyta
52 Marissa & Tony

The judges select the Tango from Kristi and Mark as their encore.

The ballroom kids dance for votes tonight!

Aaron and Rashell dance Cha Cha Cha. Kym Johnson goes to a rehearsal to give the kids some support. Terrific! Len says spot on and well done. Bruno praises their technique. Carrie Ann said it had great energy.

R&B singer Omarion is in the ballroom with the 19-member Travis Payne dance troup and a tribute to Michael Jackson's Thriller. The Thriller album was released 25 years ago. Outstanding!

More ballroom kids...Jaryd and Cara dance Samba. Maks dropped in on the kids' rehearsal. These two kids just make us smile! Carrie Ann said it was a perfect blend of entertainment and technique. Len said he'd rather watch these kids than the adults. Bruno says perfectly entertaining.

Brandon and Brittany dance Paso Doble. Ashly Delgroso, a pro from season 3, used to teach these kids. Wow! That was powerful! Bruno said it was incredible artistry and finesse. Carrie Ann said it was mature and sophisticated. Len said it was fantastic.

Dang y'all. All three pairs of kids were so good. Aaron & Rashell were so cute and amazingly skilled. Jaryd & Cara were cheeky and fun, and immensely talented. But Brandon & Brittany...they had the whole package.

Here we go with results now.

Dancing in the finals will be Kristi & Mark, Jason & Edyta, and Cristian & Cheryl.

That means Marissa & Tony are out.

We think that's the right choice and the right final three.

So next week, the final three will dance for the dazzling mirror ball trophy.

Mr David Cook had two more stellar performances this week.

    Perfect choice for the encore!

Boy, were Brandon and Brittany not amazing.

The final three were as it should be. Really, next week all three have hope of winning.

    Now, that 'other' show....

Didn't love all the songs. Syesha knows her niche is broadway and presented herself as such.

We'll get down to the Davids finally. Let's face it, both of them can sing. But I think DC will win all.

Finals on both shows, gonna be a busy week. And SYTYCD starts..yippee!

To be perfectly honest, I thought that Omarion's vocals left something to be desired and he did lose his balance toward the end of the song.
Absolutely, Brandon and Brittany were the highlight of the evening!! The last combintation of moves was in fact jaw dropping.
Yes, I do think the right couple went home last night, but I do have one criticism of Kristy and Mark...that double "head fake" she did near the beginning of the dance looked really akward, but they're still the odds on favorite to win it all.
Idol was OK last night. I really thought Archie had a less than great evening. I thought Syesha's version of "Fever" was better than the judges comments, and I thought DC was a little predictable. I still think DC should win it, but I would not be suprised if Archie takes the title and then has a less than spectacular career.

I agree - deserving people in finale. Now it's just in America's hands - how fast they can vote :o) I really do not care which one of them wins, I like them all.

  1. Liz Hill says:

Thanks for the recap--I missed both shows because I was havng a lovely evening.

  1. TT says:

You really like dancing Trav baby.

  1. The fact that Mr. Cook made the Roberta Flack song sound totally contemporary proves once again that he has it.

  1. Anndi says:

David Cook made me THUD with his rendition of "First time"

    *sigh*

  1. Sorry Marissa had to go,...

The finals is going to be a real showdown.

  1. Akelamalu says:

    Thanks for the update!

  1. Janna says:

I blogged about you today... sort of. :)

  1. Brandon and Brittany were unbelievable for a couple that young.

  1. Marsha: Those kids were terrific!

Drilleraa: But the dance troup was outstanding.

Ivanhoe: I think I'll be happy with any result.

    Turn: Lovely evenings are...well, lovely!

    TT: Yup!

    Starr: Agreed!

Ann: His performance of that song totally worked.

V: Should be a fun show too!

    Akelamalu: You're welcome!

    Janna: You did?

  1. Travis, email me your home mailing address. I have you something.

  1. I never thought I'd like a rocker as much as Daughtry on Idol. I actually like Cook more...

  1. BeckEye says:

So I take it you didn't like Cookie's 2nd song? I don't think anyone did.

I didn't like the last song too much (because it's a piece of crap no matter who sings it) but he knocked that Roberta Flack tune out of the park.

  1. It's too bad about Marissa-I was sort of hoping that the non-traditional dancin' girl would make it a little further. Thanks for being my eyes and ears for this show. :)

    PS> Top Chef tonight!!!!!

  1. Julie says:

wow! It's been exciting tv hasn't it? And just what will we do after these two shows are over?

    Bwahahahaha!!!

  1. Kimmie says:

I was a bit disappointed with DC's second song. Like the judges said, it didn't have the three elements. It would have been great if he could have sang the whole song. Oh Well...I loved what he did with "The First Time"...it gave me the goosebumps. Loved the last song also. Neither MA or Siesha impressed me at all this week.
The DWTS Finale is going to be so exciting! I agree...everyone is a winner this year. All the couples were so likable. :-) Till next week...
    Smiles,
    Kimmie

  1. Jamie: Indeed.

    Leigh: He rocks!

Bud: I wasn't a Daughtry fan because of the attitude he projected. And I think Cook has shown he's more versatile.

Beck: I didn't really. But I've always liked the last one even though it's a cheesy power ballad.

    Mags: You are welcome!

    Julie: More dancing!

Kimmie: For me, he's won the show by showing consistency and versatility on Music of the Night and First Time. Those two performances reinforced what a good vocalist he is. And now I'm ready for the CD from DC!

hey trav - I've been google readering you from work but I can't see clips from there - trying to check out the songs just now. I'm still not convinced.
