Mo's Manic Monday - Fresh

Welcome to another Manic Monday with Morgen. Don't forget to cruise by MM HQ at It's A Blog Eat Blog World. Today's theme is Fresh.

Marine Recruits...Fresh off the bus.

A Fresh-faced, shiny new Marine...

Freshly shaved in the field...

Fresh supplies dropped by air...

Fresh Flags, ready to unfurl and fly...

This isn't military, but my Lakers beat Utah yesterday to take a 1-0 lead in the second round of the NBA playoffs. And lest you think that this victory doesn't tie in with the theme, the Lakers wore their Fresh Sunday white uniforms. So far, LA remains the only unbeaten team in the playoffs.

Ahhhh, I remember being a "Fresh" inductee in Uncle Sam's Army in 1966! I took the all expense paid vacatiion to sunny Southeast Asia.
The truth is, I wouldn't take a million dollars for the experience, but I wouldn't give ya fifty cents to do it again.

  1. Yep, mine was army but I remember being fresh off the bus.......

Did you happen to catch the Taylor Hicks concert on cable yesterday?? It said 'Live - from San Francisco' but have no idea if it was from an earlier broadcast.

I would love to see a Lakers/Celtics NBA finals just like the good ol'days. Talk about a good series.

  1. Drilleraa: My uncle has said something very similar, the few times he's said anything about his experience in Vietnam.

Sarge: I've imagined what it would have been like thousands of times, but I guess there's nothing like actually going through it.

Matt: And cheers to you Sir!

    Turn: Thank you dear.

Julie: It's growing on me I guess.

    Leigh: Indeed!

    Akelamalu: Thanks!

Bee: I guess he wouldn't like to be called that anymore, but I couldn't resist.

Marsha: I missed that! I wonder if it's from last year's tour, or if it's something new.

    Monkeys: I'll do so!

    Kimmie: I'll be there soon!

Jennifer: I had a hard time coming up with something this week.

    Charles: HA!

Dana: I guess it worked OK.

Kevin: That would be cool! But I'm still nervous about all the offensive boards the boys gave up against Utah.

Sadly, too many of those fresh flags are to cover the coffins of fresh bodies. Good post, Travis.

  1. This reminded me of my own military service. Fresh, indeed, to begin with. But I soon learnt.

  1. I'm not surprised you found a way to work in your beloved Corps into this post.

And don't talk to me about the NBA playoffs. Hmpf.
