Mr David Cook, The American Idol for 2008!

There's the winner!

I was hoping, but I really didn't think it would go this way. They revealed the voting totals and it looks like DC took it by a pretty wide margin.

But whether by several million votes or only a few, David Cook is the guy.

Here's my favorite performance...Eleanor Rigby...with Simon suggesting that if it remained a talent competiton instead of a popularity contest, DC could win it all.

This one was controversial. But he never claimed the arrangement as his own, and Ryan Seacrest introduced the song as Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean.

We got hooked from this moment...the performance of Hello during the Top 16.

And just in case there was any doubt about his versatility, DC knocked Simon's curveball right over the deep center field fence.

And how about this for a thrill...jamming with ZZ Top on the finale!

Here's the moment...

Congratulations young man!

And if that wasn't enough, my Lakers dug themselves into a 20 point hole half way through the third quarter before getting it together and beating San Antonio in game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Go Lakers!

I thought Cookie and ZZ Top were the highlight of the first hour. They could have done a reprise when he was crowned Idol and it would have been a perfect end to the show.
The highlight of the second hour, Carrie. She comes out and gives a demonstration of what separates the Superstars from the wannabe's.
This was probably the best Grand Finale ever for AI.

I could not believe how many stars they pulled for the finale! I watched on commercials as finale of Criminal Minds and CSI NY was on. I say: Very well deserved for Mr. Cook (I was a little worried cause the Archie mania... :o)

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

His single is up for sale on iTunes and buying it was the first thing I did this morning =)

12 million votes! Wowzers!

I am pissed though. For the first time in a long time the tour is not coming to Portland and for once I wanted to go.

He is great, but I think they were both winners.

I did see the ZZ Top performance and it was pretty cool...It was on the TV, but I did not pay a whole lot of attention until the end...

Carrie Underwood has turned into a star and is not too hard to look at either...

Unfortunately, they confirmed what I felt and left out the Season 5 winner (or I wonder did he opt out...)

Congrats to Mr. Cook...I hope you succeed.

Ann: I could have done more video, but then the page might load too slow.

Matt: Yup...made it through another one didn't we?

Drilleraa: That definitely was a hi-light. I'm not really a fan of Carrie, but she sure has become an entertainer.

Ivanhoe: I was nervous most of the day, but I got the early result so I was much more relaxed watching the show.

Starr: I didn't know it was up so early. I need to download it too. Sorry about the tour!

Sarge: Agreed.

V: I'm not holding my breath that they'll ever again acknowledge that season 5 didn't go like they wanted.

Charles: Time flies eh? LOL!

Akelamalu: I know!

Sandee: I'm up for a challenge!

Lois: He's got the whole package!

David Cook is awesome! He's actually my favorite of all the entrants of all 7 seasons! He's so very versatile - he crosses so many style line seamlessly!

Thanks for posting the video of the announcement! I go to bed quite early and I have my DVD record it. When I played it back the next morning, it ended as soon as Seacrest announced his name. I had missed the new song and end of the show!

Mr. Cook has the number 1-4 top downloaded songs on iTunes, the number 1 ringtone and the number 1 and 2 videos =)

*smile* It was a clean win, for sure, although from the Youtube vids i watched to keep up with the show, the last three were outstanding vocalists. The winner had an edge on versatility and stage presence, and that was what it takes to win. My favorite performance, blew me out of my seat, was the Music of the Night - got goosebumps at the purity of those high notes. Glad i didn't watch the season, though, because i am completely frustrated with the judgements made by whomever ... that little kid, the other finalist, was set up to take a fall from what i could see, by the comments of the judges. They shouldn't make predictions. They suck at it.

*hugs* great blogging, Hon.

Linda: I expect we will!

Beck: Yeppers!

Roger: I understand...life happens sometimes.

Terra: I thought he rarely missed with his arrangements and performances.

Teach: We were ecstatic!

WT4W: For me he's a close second behind Taylor Hicks. The show ran about 10 minutes over. I read that a lot of people were annoyed because they set the TIVO and missed the ending.

Starr: That's way cool!

Coco: Hi there! I really enjoyed Music of the Night too. Little David is very talented, but I think he needs a little more experience to become a better performer.

Wow if they missed that they missed out. I wanted him to win but after he hugged Archie and it finally hit him that he won it and he broke down and go teary I was super happy he got it. That kid wanted it and worked for it while dealing with a family situation that has to be just heart breaking. And he never played the pity vote.

And I shall be sitting Stage Right on July 11th seeing him in concert =)

Glad your favourite won - have to say he was the best of the tree. I'm sure he'll be very successful.
