I just heard this morning that my favorite comedian of all time, George Carlin, died yesterday of heart failure. He was 71.
I have quoted from Mr Carlin for so many years. I'm in shock.
This is my favorite bit.

I have said this earlier...he spoke for a generation...and shocked many but was embraced by more.

I'm still in shock. It was the first thing I heard this morning when I flipped to CNN.

Premonition of sorts. I linked "Stuff" on a political blog about a week ago. Today I put up one of his harsher ones "Politicians" simply because I wanted to remember the beautifully funny, brilliant, and angry man who had guts enough to say, "When I die, say 'He Died'" and managed to make it hilarious.
I didn't really know him, but I definitely remember y'all quoting him. May he rest in peace. Hugs.
Bee: At least he left us with some of the good stuff.
Sandee: It's odd. I didn't know the man, but I miss him a lot now. I don't often feel that way about celebrities, and I can't predict who's passing will affect me this way.
V: Indeed he did.
Charles: I missed the news yesterday and was completely shocked this morning.
Ann: I don't know how many times I've quoted him, from getting on the plane to needing a place for my stuff. He left us with so much of his great bits, but I'm sad that there won't ever be anymore.

Jamie: He said what was on his mind with no apologies. And maybe sometimes we didn't want to hear it, but I can never fault him for speaking up.

My brother is in music in New York and I used to work at the Fillmore East for many years.I came home from Vietnam 2 days before Woodstock Festival and went there. I'm from Monticello, N.Y. George Carlin's death came as quite a shock to me also. He has not been the same since his first wife passed away a few years ago.

Yup...sad sad day. It's a pity that youtube goes nuts when someone dies. But it's good that we have it though.

I was sad to hear he died. He was such a ground-breakign comedian!
i had a professor in college who was his doppelganger...looked, acted and lectured like Carlin...He taught sociology.
Even though he is best remembered for his comedy routines, I will always remember him for his portrayal of Rufus in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and as "Mr. Conductor" in the PBS children's show, "Shining Time Station". Way back when the girls used to watch that show I was always somewhat bemused that the man who was made famous by the seven things you couldn't say on TV was doing a children's show. Good for him and may he rest in peace in between cracking up everyone and anyone he can find above!
Yes, is a very sad day indeed. George was ALWAYS one of my all time favorites... I'm wondering if he ever found a place for all his "stuff"..

Linda: I also remember him from the clean stuff he used to do on variety shows like Tony Orlando. That was the first exposure I had to him, and then came his HBO special on location at USC in 1977. I watched it one night when my mom was out and was hooked from that moment.
