If space craft from other words are visiting earth, why hasn't SETI (the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) found evidence of it in radio waves? If alien space craft are flying around Earth and the solar system, shouldn't they be filling space with their alien noise?

Yesterday was National German Chocolate CAKE Day. I know! I can't believe I would have missed it. But dear Julie reminded me. Thanks Jules!

Yesterday was also the 2nd anniversary of my first date with Pam. We made a nice stir fry with chicken and broccoli, and served it over brown rice. Yum-OH!

But we didn't have any CAKE.

We will be going to the coast this weekend. YAY! We haven't decided if we're going to stay the night. But we definitely need to get out of town. We haven't actually decided on a route yet. Looks like we'll have to consult our trusty road atlas.

I'm not ready to do a full on review, but I'm really happy to settle back in with a new set of dancers. My excitement for So You Think You Can Dance is much different than for Dancing with the Stars.

DWTS is about celebrities and professional ballroom dancers. It's pure fluff and entertainment, and it makes no pretense to be anything else. Sure the celebrities and the pros want to win. But there's nothing at stake other than personal pride, and maybe the resurgence of a career or two.

SYTYCD is about dancers. Some of them are working professionally. For others it was their first audition experience. Others come from a street dancing background. Still others are classically trained.

But they are all trying to make careers out of dance. And 20 of them have made it onto the show, where America will watch and vote for their favorite.

Wait! Let's have a shout for Cat Deeley and her LEGS LEGS LEGS LEGS LEGS!!! And Vinny! Did you see the shoes?

Judges last night were Dan Karaty, Mary Murphy, and Nygel Lithgoe. I know I said I wasn't ready for a full on review, but I'm watching anyway so I'll grade on a scale of 1 to 10.

Rayven Armijo (28, ballet & contemporary) is paired with Jamie Bayard (22, west coast swing) to dance hip hop choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon. Call it a 5.

Susie Garcia (25, Latin/salsa) is paired with Marquis Cunningham (18 lyrical & contemporary) to dance smooth waltz choreographed by Hunter Johnson. Call it a 7.

Kourtni Lind (18, jazz & contemporary) is paired with Matt Dorame (22, contemporary) to dance jazz choreographed by Mandy Moore. Call it a 7.

Chelsea Traille (23, jazz funk & contemporary) is paired with Thayne Jasperson (27, contemporary) to dance Cha Cha Cha choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie Lapatin. Call it an 8.5 thanks to Chelsea.

Chelsie Hightower (18, Latin ballroom) is paired with Mark Kanemura (24, contemporary) to dance contemporary choreographed by Emmy winner Mia Michaels. Call it 9.

Kherington Payne (18, jazz & contemporary) is paired with Stephen "Twitch" Boss (25, freestyle hip hop & breaker) to dance broadway choreographed by Tyce Diorio. Call it a 9.

Comfort Fedoke (20, hip hop) is paired with Chris Jarosz (21, lyrical & contemporary) to dance Jive choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie Lapatin. Call it 6.

Katee Shean (20, contemporary) is paired with Joshua Allen (19, hip hop) to dance hip hop choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon. Call it 10.

Jessica King (23, contemporary) is paired with Will Wingfield (21, contemporary) to dance Tango choreographed by Hunter Johnson. Call it 9. Her wobbles kept that from being 10.

Courtney Galiano (19, contemporary & hip hop) is paired with Gev Manoukian (21, hip hop & breaker) to dance disco choreographed by Doriana Sanchez. Call it 7.

Results are tonight. Watch it and you'll get a chance to see a group dance choreographed by Wade Robson, who won an Emmy for his work on the show last season.

I can report that Pam and I thought our three favorites were Katee & Joshua, Kherington & Twitch, and Jessica & Will.

I can also report that this is an extremely talented group of dancers.

I won't be suggesting a bottom 3 because there's just no telling who America is going to like.

Perhaps the aliens ARE making noise but we just haven't developed the ability to hear their special frequency....
    Here, lemme demonstrate...
    (*pause*)
There, did you hear that huge fart I just let?
    No?
And yet the fart still existed, regardless of anyone's ability to detect it.

I love cake, and I love chocolate, but am not fond of german chocolate cake. It's the coconut. I'm not a big fan of that stuff. It's a waste of perfectly good cake and chocolate.

Not sure I would want to dance with someone whose nickname was "Twitch".
On the other hand, maybe they would make me look good in comparison.

    I feel hyper.
Must be all the sugar I just drank.

  1. Marsha says:

Twitch of course, is a favorite, but I've got to say that Joshua and Katee's dance well....dang, it was good....GOOD!! I was glad when he made it into the top 20 and he's for sure one to watch. I haven't picked out a female fav yet.
Thanks for the rankings - I agree with them!

  1. oboy cake!!! thanks trav!

    Hey Sweets.....
I am still out on life in space but in the 90s a Nasa mission STS-75 had a malfunction where a tether detached from the shuttle and the Nasa footage shows some interesting "things".

I personally think that they might be alive not UFOs but something else. Look at all the life here on Earth so many different expressions.

    My two cents.

I saw that cabinet project you finished up recently. They looked so great.

    In light and love

    Danielle

    Oops.
Blogger kicked me out of commenting so many times.

    I got confused.

I know you didn't do a cabinet job that was Sling.

    Blogger doesn't like me today.

  1. I'm sorry - I got tripped up when I read But we didn't have any CAKE.

    I'm still in shock.

  1. DrillerAA says:

OK, Joshua and Katee were the best of the evening. There was some outstanding choreography. I think Comfort may be in a little bit of trouble...she was not comfortable in those high heels. She appears to be among those have the most trouble dancing outside their specialty.
I thought Chelsea Hightower and Mark performed beautifully.
I really like Kortni and Matt. The problem is that Kortni is a full grown woman and Matt isn't man enough to lift her. He needs to get in the weight room and put on about 20 pounds. Joshua made any lifts he did look easy because he has the power to make it happen.
Looking forward to the results tonight. I am thinking that the disco ball may come crashing down around Courtney G and Gev.

  1. when they want us to know they are there....they will let us hear them....smile

I didn't know yesterday was National German Chocolate Cake day. Drat. It would have rounded off your second anniversary of you and Pam's first date very nicely. Have a great day Travis. :)

  1. Anndi says:

Happy Anniversary bro.. I remember how cute you were about that date!

Now, you gotta have cake! Whaddaya mean you didn't have no cake?

TWITCHINGTON!!! Chicklet got to stay up to see him dance, she was gleeful and was dancing on my bed (little monkey)

I missed some of it and caught up with the West Coast feed.. aww I was watching it at the same time as you!! Been a long time since we've done that ;)

    SMOOCH

  1. Akelamalu says:

German Chocolate Cake Day? I haven't got any cake, may I have a piece of yours please?

  1. Ivanhoe says:

I can't believe you did not have a cake on your dating anniversary ;o)
I don't watch this dancing show, but it seems you like it, so maybe I take a peek next week...

  1. Actually the aliens landed centuries ago long before radio, took over all the governments of the world. They have been breeding and keeping an eye on us every since. It is outgoing signals we should be watching.

  1. I was in and out of it last night...missed a few dances but loved twitch and his partner..they are so expressive...and then the hip-hop by Katee and Joshua...MAN that choreography was frickin great

    Happy Anniversary...dang I forgot that one...making a note...

Have fun on the coast...I have a special weekend planned also

  1. Well happy anniversary! :)

  1. TopChamp says:

German chocolate cake?? I have not heard of this... black forest gateau I know (and don't like coz you should not mix fruit and chocolate in a cake).

    2 years! Stir-fry sounds good.

Hope you have a good coast trip. We're hoping for one too, weather permitting.

Cat Deeley's head's big though compared to her body. Still, it marks more dancing reviews so I'll be happy.

  1. Janna: I enjoy German Chocolate CAKE...big shock there eh? But it's not often my first choice.

Marsha: None of the gals has really caught my attention just yet, but Twitch and Joshua were outstanding.

    Bee: Yes Ma'am!

Danielle: I've heard about those little "glitches" with NASA missions. I would love to build some cabinets...we need new ones in our kitchen!

    Songbird: Shocking, isn't it?

Drilleraa: Your points are excellent as always.

    Katherine: Ahhhhh...philosophy.

Sandee: I suspect we shall have some kind of sweet and yummy treat this weekend.

Ann: Well, Pam said no CAKE so there was no CAKE. And we love that they have a nickname for themselves!

    Akelamalu: Naturally I'll share!

Ivanhoe: Careful! You just might get hooked on it.

    Jamie: A-ha!

V: The choreography consistently sets this show apart. I just hope that Mia's wackiness didn't hurt. The dance she made was excellent, but it's tough to be out of your own style in a partnership, and then get that "out there" choreography on the first night. It can do more harm than good sometimes.

    Mags: Thanks my dear!

TC: You haven't heard of German Chocolate CAKE? Maybe you know it by another name. And yes...the return of the Cat does mark the beginning of another Dance season. Many things can be forgiven, including an abnormally large head. Bwahahahahaha!

  1. Nat'l German Chocolate CAKE Day? NAT'L GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY? I MISSED IT??? *flings herself off the nearest tall structure*

  1. RW says:

    I'll get hooked...don't you worry.

  1. Jeff B says:

Happy Aniversary! Today is Lisa and I's 16th.

I don't worry about the aliens too much. This nice shinny foil hat I'm wearing is sure to protect me.

  1. Linda says:

    Happy Belated anniversary!

I missed German Chocolate Cake Day? Wah!

Have a great time at the coast this weekend!

And for gosh sakes, get some cake somewhere!

  1. Lana: I hope the nearest tall structure was only some porch steps!

Roger: I must have CAKE this weekend...it's been too long!

Zhu: I say YES! Anytime is a good time for CAKE!

Snark: Thanks! I'll have to cruise by your place soon.

    Julie: I have no doubts!

    Jeff: Thanks...and same to you!

Linda: Thanks! We will be having CAKE at some point!
