Heath Ledger deserves every accolade for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight. For his performance alone, I'm glad I saw it today.

However, it didn't save the film for me. I place myself in the small minority of people who didn't care for it. It just missed for me on every level. I wasn't entertained. It didn't make me think. I didn't marvel at the special effects.

I didn't have a single emotional connection to any character. I didn't feel any drama. And the thing was too damn long at 152 minutes.

In fact, when it was over I turned to Pam and apologized for suggesting we see it. She didn't like it either.

    You two aren't the only two that didn't care for the movie. So, sometimes it just doesn't do it for us. It's just the way it is. That is one long movie. Yikes. Have a great weekend Travis. :)

    Wow...that's the 1st negative review I've read! I don't know that I'm going to bother with this movie...at least not until it comes out on pay per view. Not a big movie person, myself.

    Yes, this is the first negative review I've heard too. I know several people who have gone gaga over it. I will see it when it comes on PPV but I won't make it to the theater.

    I did not have any intension of seening it until it cames out on video.and from what I have read san the trailers I have seen I doubt that i will waste my time with this movie. Hugs and God's Blessings. Mike G.said that (its an A.A. thing)

    I believe we are going to go see this today and, to be perfectly honest, I am not all that excited about it as I think I'm going to have trouble sitting for over 2-1/2 hours. The girls really, really, really want to go, though, and it's Jamie's birthday so who am I say "nay"?

    One of the guys at work who saw it said that Batman always sounds angry - even when he's Bruce Wayne. Nothing like a cranky superhero, is there?!?

    Lana: I actually read many reviews yesterday after we saw it, and did find some that hadn't drunk the kool-aide.

    Charles: Now I wish we would have waited for PPV.

    Mike: Mr Ledger's performance was the only thing that drew us to the theater.

    Terra: The length only bothered me because I wasn't enjoying it. I have no problem with sitting for that long if it's a movie I'm enjoying.

    Linda: I'm sure the girls will enjoy it.

    Sorry you didn't care for it Travis. I haven't seen it yet but I'd like to go see it. But I know I'd be too sad about Health Ledger being dead and all so I don't think I'll see it. When Christopher Reeve(s?) got hurt I could never watch his Superman movies again.

    We go to a restaurant that wants to rush us along, drink, appetizer, entre. What we do to counteract that is refuse to order our entre until we're finished with the appetizer. They accept that. We don't linger over coffee 'cuz we don't order coffee at this restaurant. But we always give a good tip. I feel those guys work hard... :)

    My brother (not Gene) went to see it and gave it a review almost word for word as you did.

    It's a bummer when you spend as much as a movie cost now for medocrity.

    My wife didn't like it...she said it was too violent. I think she still expects to see the words "pow" and "bam" come up during the fight. LOL! The middle daughter liked it though.

    Ledger made this movie. I did enjoy it for the most part. I did find Batman's "whisper" voice annoying and often times difficult to understand. And yes, it was long, too long. It's still better than Wall-E though.

    Teach: That's a good idea to not order everything at the same time.

    Jeff: At least the popcorn was good, although it sure wasn't worth what we paid for it.

    Gene: They did push the boundaries of PG-13 by not showing a lot of blood.

    Turn: I was pleased that most people who had already seen it were careful about spoilers.

    TC: Most of the people I work with saw it on the first weekend and raved about it. Now I'll be odd man out.

    Drilleraa: I agree that the "Batman" voice was a poor choice. There are other ways to disguise the voice.

    I've heard reviews now from both extremes. Waiting for the home version....2 1/2 hours at home is better than in the theater anyday. Except for the popcorn.

    I am so relieved. Just looking at the commercials was enough for me. I opted instead for totally mindless fluff and went to Mama Mia. When you can get an audience laughing out loud together and being slightly embarrassed that they are, you have a really nice cotton candy movie. Go. Stay for the credits. Pierce Brosnan in high heels and lame' is not to be missed.

    P.S. Christine Baranski can still dance up a storm.

    I am so living in the dark ages when it comes to movies -don't know diddly squat about what's new, what's exciting, etc. But though I liked Brokeback Mountain (although my son-in-law actually grimaced through most of it) I will pass your review of this flick on to Mandy, as she is the one here who generally does the movie rental routine.

    No movie will be liked by everyone. I adored it, have seen it twice and will probably see it again in the theater when the crowds die down again. I had the exact opposite reaction, it did make me think, I did have a connection and I though the way the Joker and his motives played out was a nice bit of social commetary. Too each their own!

    ah...interesting...I know I will see it...and i know it will give me "knightmares"...but the curiousity has this kat...
