Tech Ijit

I owe Janna an apology. I forgot to give her credit for the Manic Monday Storm graphic from yesterday. So here it is...yesterday's MM graphic was brought to you by Janna of Jannagraphics and the Jannaverse.

I think I've said before that I'm pretty much a tech ijit.

For example...not long ago I was cruising the blogs and saw a reference to Blogger in Draft over at Mo's. So I clicked on the link and read a bit about some cool features. And I thought to myself...Self, wouldn't it be cool to have that expanded toolbar?
To which I replied to myself...yeah Stoopid, if only you weren't such a tech ijit you might be able to figure it out.

Yeah. The old Self can be a bit of a jerk.

Anyway, I was doing a bit of this and and a bit of that with some posts I have in the queue when what do you suppose I did? If you guessed that I accidentally hit the "compose" button at the top right corner of the text box, you'd be right. And you'd know that I found that extended toolbar.

I've always written my posts with the Edit Html button clicked. Don't ask me why.

So now I can see the actual pictures instead of just the html code when I upload them. And I don't have to keep clicking over to the preview screen to see if the picture sizes are right and if I've got everything in the right place.

We watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory last night...the Gene Wilder. I never saw the updated version with Johnny Depp. To me, Willy Wonka will always be Gene Wilder.

This is one of my favorite parts. The song is Pure Imagination, written specifically for the film by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley.

"Don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted...he lived happily ever after." Willy Wonka

I'm with you on Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder IS Wonka...

I have my ijit moments too... it's all a part of learning.

    Hugs, Travis!
    :-D)

[shaking head]...aahh Travis....dude!? Not sure I would have confessed this ijit moment myself.
    Have a good one!

  1. Gene Wilder is the best Wonka!
I love that song as well!

  1. I admit I love Wilder's version the best although the Depp/Burton version WAS the book. They made the 70's Wonka MUCH nicer than he is in the books.

I'm still kicking around the Blogger in Draft stuff but I have a custom template which means I would have to go in and fool around with the HTML and lately I'm just not up to the whole process (read "lazy"!). As a matter of fact, I need to tweak my sidebar in a couple of places but again, I'm too lazy it seems. Either that or I get easily distracted!

As for Gene Wilder and "Willy Wonka" - to be honest, both movies kind of creep me out a bit. Not sure if it's the Oompa Loompas or kids turning into giant blueberries or the fact that Willy Wonka just doesn't like kids that does it but both movies give me ... a drumroll, please ... the willies!

  1. silly silly man! have some cake! ha ha ha

    smiles, bee
    xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  1. The new Willy Wonka was not nearly as good as the Gene Wilder version. I thought the remake was very weak.

I love the Gene Wilder Willy Wonka. I've not seen the Depp one. We all have ijet moments Travis. We really, really do. Have a great day. Big hug. :)

I was your blog friend forever when you called yourself an ijit. Ijit! What a perfectly wonderful word.

I hated the new Willie Wonka cause Johnny Depp should always be Captain Sparrow. Always. There is just Something about a man in eyeliner who still manages to be completely masculine. Not very masculine in WWATCF.

    Happy Day to you!

    Jen

  1. I'm sorry Johnny Depp you are not Willy Wonka, you did not grab me as Gene Wilder did. that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Mike G. said that.

  1. Unknown says:

I'm not sure what you are talking about...but I'm enjoying the Willy Wonka clip!

  1. Lois: Too bad it took me so long to learn this one!

Marsha: Well, I can laugh at myself sometimes.

Bitter Betty: Agreed on both counts!

Starr: I remember being a bit creeped out by the book. I read it after I saw the film and liked the movie much better.

Linda: I need to do some sidebar work too. Now that you mention it, the Wonka character can be a bit skeery sometimes.

    Bee: Thanks I will!

Charles: I didn't see the remake specifically because I loved the Mr Wilder's Wonka so much.

Sandee: If I blogged about all my ijit moments, I'd have fodder for at least a month!

Jennifer: It's a most excellent word!

Mike: I'm not a Johnny Depp fan to begin with.

    Dana: That's ok dear.

I'm still laughing out loud about the compose issue. I think I did the same darned thing...and yes, Gene Wilder is the only Wonka ~ always and forever. You are so right.

  1. Schmoop says:

I write my posts in Works and then paste it to the Edit HTML page, after doing that, I use the compose mode the rest of the way. Cheers Trav!!

  1. Rick says:

I don't check your blog for six months and I come back to find you're discussing Willy Wonka. Wait til I tell Chuck Zaglanis.

And oh, by the way, can you post something on his blog and get him active again. He's even worse than me!

  1. Marilyn says:

I love both Wonka films. The older version is nicer and it is true that Wonka didn't seem to like kids much but the kids weren't very likable. I guess, having been bullied as a kid, I've got a vindictive streak.

I like the new Oompa Loompas.

  1. Technology is scary. I've had thoughts of using a 3rd party template but chicken out each time.

Love the word ijit, though... :)

  1. Jeni says:

Oh Trav, you have no idea how comforting it is to me to hear someone else 'fess up to being a bit on the illiterate -and "ijit" side with respect to technology and especially with blogging! Did my old pea-picking heart good to read that coming from you! I don't believe it for a minute but if you say you are that way, well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for a tiny while at any rate!

  1. Although I love Johnny Depp Travis, don't bother with his Willie Wonka...Try his Sweeney Todd but not if you're squeamish! :)

  1. Chuck: Isn't it silly?

Matt: Now that's a good idea.

    Vwriter: That'll teach ya!

Marilyn: I loved the Oompa Loompas from the 70's version...we used to sing the song all the time when we were kids.

Terra: Every time I think I want to change my template, I decide it's just fine the way it is.

Jeni: When I get over my fear and try something, I can figure it out sometimes.

Teach: I'll skip the one and maybe try the other.

  1. Kimmie says:

I love the Gene Wilder "Willy Wonka." I don't plan to ever watch the other, I am content with the original. ijit...cool word!
    ;-)

Thanks for the video, it was nice to sit back and watch the clip and hear the song. Its been awhile.

    Hugs,
    Kimmie

Oh yeah! It's like a major revelation when you stumble across something like that isn't it?

    I love learning!
