Random Grumbles

Hey gang...when you inherit a 700sq foot one bedroom condo in a prime Boston location, and you invest about $41k in rennovations, and the real estate person tells you she could list it for $429k...you've got no business being disappointed in pure profit of $388k.

And then when she tells you that another $10k invested in refinishing the hardwood floors and adding storage would get that price up to $449k, your reaction should be a whoop and a holler and not a disappointed frown. Let's get some perspective and set unrealistic greed aside, eh? (Saw that on My House Is Worth What? on HGTV)

Athletes don't lose gold medals. They don't settle for silver and bronze medals. An athlete wins a medal, regardless of the color.

I despise incompetence, especially when it happens right around the corner from my desk.

I'm also not fond of people who don't work with a sense of urgency for deadlines.

I'm tired of political ads during every commercial break on network television.

I'm a bit tired of being tired.

There are 42 Lord of the Rings action figures that need sticky bases! Hokey smokes Bulwinkle!

Well, that's about enough grumbling. My heart isn't really in it, especially not after popping over to Mimi Writes and getting a nice little surprise. Thank you for the kind words, my dear! You are a true Queen and a classy Lady.

Have a chocolate peanut butter bomb.

OH! How about a Boston Creme cupCAKE!

The sweet and yummy images are from the blog Utopian Kitchen.

Ok I think maybe your geekiness in my mind went up a notch there.

Feel better for having got it all off your chest?

So you going to bring those cupcakes by my house? Ummm... please?

  1. Akelamalu says:

It does you good to have a good old moan occasionally. Thanks for the cakes - slurp :)

  1. Linda says:

Thanks for the great desserts! What a treat before going off to work this morning (especially after having worked my new job #2 until midnight last night!).

And Akelamalu is right, a good grumble is good for the soul every once in awhile!

Congrats on the award, Trav -well deserved, for sure. The cupcakes look so darned good they're making my stomach ache and growl now! And so true about the greed issue but some people are never satisfied, are they?

  1. oh yum trav!!!

    smiles, bee

  1. I'm still reeling over the house thing. Geezum, you'd think people would have some perspective.

  1. Schmoop says:

  1. Awww Travis! Poor dear. My bitter betty-ness is starting to rub off :)

    p.s. those treats look FANTASTIC!

  1. Gee Travis how Do you keep your figure? Those figures about condos are incredible! I could see you (and me) hating the people who are complaining! :)

  1. Jan says:

Venting does a person good. Get it all out and move on. I'm loving moving on to the sweets too! :)

  1. Jeff B says:

By November I will be ready to shoot my TV! I already feel the same about most of the candidates for their negitive "bash the other guy" campaigns.

  1. YUMMY! Thanks Trav I will be shorting out my keyboard with drool here.

That HGTV show cracks me up. The monumental greed that virtually EVERY homeowner displays blows my mind. But I am less is more kinda girl so what do I know. I wanna retire to shack on the water in Tahiti.

  1. Marsha says:

    Dang, I'm hungry now.....

  1. Sandee says:

I'm with you on everything you said, but especially those yummy looking cupcakes. I had one...Have a great day Travis. :)

  1. wait wait...someone can make almost $400K and they are complaining??????

    ummm get real, OK?!?!

    Cupcakes look scrumpdelli-icious

  1. You are SOOOO NOT a grumbler, Trav. You're too sunny of a person to be a true grumbler.

    *smile*

  1. TC: So how many more notches are there?

    Lois: Don't they look good?

Akelamalu: It's better than holding it all in, which I tend to do.

Linda: I think if you eat those kinds of sweets early enough in the day, they should have less calories!

Jeni: I don't know what some people are thinking.

    Bee: I know!

Charles: People get those dollar signs in their eyes, and suddenly 90% profit just isn't enough.

    Matt: I do!

Bitter Betty: Sometimes a good vent is worth it.

    Tookie: So true!

  1. Jeff: All I want from them is to tell me what they are going to do, how they are going to do it, and how they plan to pay for it. I don't want their version of what the other guy can't do.

Starr: What gets me is that the guy didn't pay for the house, he inherited it. Then he put an equity line on it to pay for renovations. And now 90% profit just isn't enough. Sheesh.

    Marsha: Don't they look yum-OH?

Sandee: I saw that picture and I could just taste how good they would be.

    V: Evidently so. It's ridiculous.

Songbird: Well, I have my grumbly moments. But you get a big hug, you flatterer you!

  1. DrillerAA says:

Count me in on the cupcakes!!!
    WoooHooo!!!

I hate political ads...period! The worst part is that we are just entering the prime season.

Feel better kiddo get all the toxins OUT! Then have a cupcake.....

  1. I agree on the incompetence. Unfortunately I seem to be surrounded by it. <:(

  1. I'm a bit tired of being tired I hear you.

Cheesy: CAKE is always good for getting over the gumblies.

Lana: I have been the last couple of days, but today was better.

Terra: YAY me! I get a long three day weekend to chill out.

  1. j says:

How is it that we are Blog Friends exactly? OMGosh you would hate me!! I AM incompetence in the flesh.

I will try to keep things on the up and up when I am here! :)

I'll take a.... Choc. P. B. Cupcake. Looks GOOD! Unless I could have one of each?

    Jen

  1. Oooohhhh.....chocolate! How did I miss this? I don't mind if you grumble Travis. You're allowed. Some of those same things irk me too (especially the ridiculous political ads). But thank you for offering cake and kindness.

    I appreciate it.

You can go back to grumbling now. I'll just be here in my blog space hanging out.....

  1. Kimmie says:

Its good to let it all out now and then Trav. I tend to hold alot in also, then it festers up and I blow a gasket! Not good.

I was ready to shoot my TV from political ads months ago. It is so nerve racking. This has been the most annoying Presidental Race I have witnessed. What a terrible shame.

As far as that person who inherited that condo. He should get a zap in the a** for his greediness.

Thanks for the goodies...ummm...can you get me the address of that bakery! ;-)

    Hugs,
    Kimmie

  1. Janna says:
