Encores and results

Well, on Tuesday we lost celebrity Jeffrey Ross and pro Edyta Sliwinska's LEGS LEGS LEGS LEGS. That's not Jeff in the picture...that's Edyta's husband and professional partner, Alec Mazo.

Who will join them as the second pair eliminated?

Let's cue that theme music and find out, shall we?

Wait! I forgot the proper sequence for results posts. DOH! You need some encores first.

I beg your pardon. I just finished the first 8 week section in my certificate program and I'm a little wonky.

So encores...Pam and I were pleasantly surprised on Monday night by Warren Sapp. Here is the Cha Cha Cha he danced with partner Kym Johnson.

I must give dear Julie her Maks fix!

Ahhhhh...we begin with one of our favorite things as the pros demonstrate a series of Latin styles. We have Rumba followed by Samba and Paso Doble and I think there was a bit of Mambo in there too, all danced to Under Pressure from Queen with David Bowie.

Here's a reminder of our leader board:

26 Brooke and Derek
23 Cody and Julianne
23 Toni and Alec
22 Warren and Kym
22 Susan and Tony
21 Misty and Maks
21 Rocco and Karina
21 Lance and Lacey
21 Maurice and Cheryl
19 Ted and Inna
18 Kim and Mark
16 Cloris and Corky

Mr Cranky Pants can whine all he wants to about modern content, but we love Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer. Our favorite was the Cha Cha Cha from Monday.

We thought that the dance of both nights was the Quickstep from Brooke Burke and Derek Hough.

The first couple that is safe is Brooke and Derek, which is no surprise to us. Joining them next week will be Kim and Mark. Good for her, since she had to wait nearly two hours to find out if she was safe on Tuesday.

Well, Jeffrey and Edyta get to dance their Quickstep after all. He does a very nice job. I'll say this for Jeff Ross...he couldn't dance very well but he didn't make fun of the show.

More results...Cloris and Corky are safe! Oh my.

Singer Jesse McCartney is in the ballroom, performing his song Leavin' accompanied by guest pros. Dangit...Tom introduced them too fast and I didn't catch his name, but it's nice to see the return of Ashley DelGrosso.

Now we must endure Adam Corolla. Given a choice, I think I'd rather have the Jimmy Kimmel junk back.

More results. The next safe couple is Maurice and Cheryl.

The Jonas Brothers perform their song Love Bug, accompanied by Lacey & Derek and Mark & Inna dancing Jive.

More pairs advance to next week...Misty & Maks, Warren & Kym, Susan & Tony, and Rocco & Karina.

And now the final three couples to dance next week...Lance & Lacey, Cody & Julianne, and Toni & Alec.

That means Ted & Inna are out.

Dangit! I'm really out of it. I didn't catch next week's dances.

I hope you enjoyed my super-duper-step-over-lip-lock season premier of Dancing with the Stars. And if you didn't, well, all I can say to that is...

...tough noogies!

Heheheheheheheeee!

    Hi Trav!
I LOVED your season premier recaps! You did a fantabulous job. :-) Thank You! Last nights show was great. I think with all that we have seen in this first week has made it obvious it is going to be a very exciting season.

Hope you took your *wonky* self to bed after you typed this up and are getting yourself some much needed sleep. :-)
    Hugs,
    Kimmie

I missed most of it, doing the mommy thing at school... Got back in time to see the final 3.

I think it's a shame that Ted didn't get another shot. I saw good potential for improvement.

Guess I'll have to suffer through watching Vapid Kim K again.

And you know how I felt about that Cha Cha Cha! Hawt Hawt Hawt! WOOOOO!

Thank you thank you thank you!! I loved the Brooke (who the heck is she anyway?) and Derek quick step. That level of dance on week one? Oh my!

I LOVE IT that Cloris is around to scandalize everyone for another week;-)

    SMOOCH

Good recap - I was surprised that it was Ted that went instead of Cloris. But then, there are always surprises in this show.

  1. Ivanhoe says:

Yup! Enjoyed it as always :o)

Great clips Trav and great review!

We actually had the show on at work last night but the stupid phone kept ringing so I missed a lot of it (I actually had a 911 call where the guy told me he had been bitten by a vampire bat!). Glad to be able to come here and read your review!

  1. I was suprised Ted went goodbye...

I thought Jeffrey did quite well last night. If that had been his first dance, he might have gotten through...

I zoomed through the guest singers...both acts...I mean like WHO CARES?

Also zoomed through the vapid segment with Adam (wish I were Howard Stern)Corolla

Most excellent first week...even with some slippage here and there!

And CONGRATS on zooming through the first 8 weeks dude...that is Great News.

Thanks for that great review, Trav.

"Under Pressure" is one of my alltime favorite songs... I'd love to listen to it right now, but the little princess is sleeping next to me - which I enjoy lots b/c I can visit blog buddies. :-)

  1. Kimmmie: I'm just stumbling into the weekend here, hoping to relax and get some rest.

Ann: The Cha Cha Cha was rockin!

Turn: Brooke is a model, a mom, and a VH1 host. She also hosted the short-lived Rock Star show.

Marsha: Ms Leachman is a pistol!

    Ivanhoe: Excellent!

    Starr: Yeppers!

    Lois: It's great entertainment.

    Akelamalu: Thanks!

Linda: You mean people had the nerve to have emergencies during Dancing???

V: I wasn't as interested in the guest performers as I was in the pros getting the extra chances to dance. That's what I like most about the guest spots.

Sanni: Freddie really shows off his range on Under Pressure, which is why it's also one of my favorites of Queen.

I'm behind, and didn't get to tivo, but was so glad I could come on over and count on you to have all the recap for me. :)

  1. Dianne says:

What fun!! I'm so glad you told me you do this and Wow, you pack a lot into the post - videos and everything.

I'm lovin Warren - "The Quarterback Killer Becomes the Ballroom Thriller"

and during practice when he mutters - "fat boy gotta get this"

I was going to do a weekly thing but this puts me to shame!!

  1. Grandy: You can definitely count on me!

Dianne: The show itself is our grand escape, and blogging about it keeps us connected. That's my philosophical reason for doing it. My silly reason for doing it is just because I love the Dancing! LOL!

One thing I have missed is your updates! I'm catching up on them now!
