Just a quick wrap up

Oregon State made Pac 10 football basically irrelevant for the BCS this season with a huge upset of USC on Thursday, which was ranked #1 in both the AP and USA Today polls. Don't look for the BCS to come knocking at the door of a possible one-loss USC team if there happens to be a mess at the end of the season. They'll take a two-loss SEC team into the BCS title game before they look at anything less than an undefeated west coast squad.

Congrats to the Beavers on a tremendous win!

I guess that sort of started the ball rolling for some upsets today. Here's a summary of the AP Top 10:

1 USC lost 27-21 to Oregon State
2 Oklahoma beat TCU, 35-10
3 Georgia lost 41-30 to #8 Alabama
4 Florida lost to Mississippi, 31-30
5 LSU beat Mississippi State, 34-24
6 Missouri, idle
7 Texas beat Arkansas, 52-10
8 Alabama beat #3 Georgia, 41-30
9 Wisconsin lost to Michigan, 27-25
10 Texas Tech, idle

Can you say shuffle 'em up?

Notre Dame looked good in a 38-21 win over Purdue at South Bend. Sophomore QB Jimmy Clausen threw for 275 yards on 20 of 35, with 3 TDs. Sophomore RB Armando Allen rushed for 134 yards on 17 carries with a TD, and added 105 yards from kick and punt returns. The Irish had 476 yards of total offense.

They played with a lot more confidence at home. Now we just need them to play that well on the road.

  1. I'm glad I didn't watch the Arkansas game. Sheesh.

    Yay Irish!

I was on the phone with Honey when Alabama beat Georgia. He gave me a play by play of the last minutes. They Dogs fought hard in the end... but came up short.

  1. Charles: It must have been painful for Razorback fans.

Ann: The Irish need to figure out how to sustain that effort on the road.

It's been a sea of orange and black around Portland this weekend. The Beavs are the talk of the town.

The 49ers are televised here today, and what a disappointing first half. The offensive line has been struggling to give O'Sullivan any type of pocket protection and the defense...well...let's just hope they decide to show up during the second half.

Me and Jennifer are happy! Roll Tide! ;-)

Going to be watching Pro today? My Bills are on in 54 minutes! Whoo Hoo!

I am rooting for the Seahawks and Raiders today for you and Pam!

I'll check back in later tonight!

    Oh no! more football...eeek

  1. Jeff: I can imagine. That was a great win for OSU. And the 49ers looked awful today in the hi-lights. My Raiders couldn't hold a lead either. Bummer.

Kimmie: The Bills are looking like one of the stronger teams in the AFC. You're gonna have some fun this season.

Cathy: It's that time of year.

    Ha! I love Kimmie!

We are #2!!! Glad that we are doing well but that spot carries a lot of pressure!!

People don't realize that college football is a year round thing for us here in Alabama. But during the actual football season it escalates to a frenzy! I went in Sam's Saturday in my Alabama Tshirt with my Alabama purse while taking a call from my daughter (who was wearing her Alabama tshirt with her face painted) on my Alabama Cell phone. I had a conversation with three different strangers (NOT started by me) in the store about Alabama football! It is SO much fun!

    Hey Trav!
Sorry about the Raiders. Boo Hiss! :-( I didn't realize the Seahawks were on a bye week. I will root for them next week for Pam. :-)

I agree, I think the "Bills Fans" are going to have alot of fun this year. I know my apartment building heard me celebrating yesterday! LOL! They are used to me though, so its all good. ;^)

@ Jennifer...hey girl...you know I have always love the Alabama Crimson Tide! So, we are in it together! I am going to have to go online and get me a tee shirt! Oh Yeah! ;-)

    Hugs to you Trav,
    Kimmie
