Yup. Love it or hate it, it's back.

We watched most of last night with the sound on mute. We don't really get into it until they start showing us the talent.

In honor of the one out there somewhere who is going to be the American Idol in about 4 months, here are the first 7.

Season 1, Kelly Clarkson

Season 2, Reuben Studdard

Season 3, Fantasia Barrino

Season 4, Carrie Underwood

Season 5, Taylor Hicks

Season 6, Jordin Sparks

Season 7, David Cook

Who's next?

    Oh! I missed it. [:-(

  1. Barb says:

I checked in to see a guy crying... and went to sleep. I don't start watching it until the final 12.

My name is Barb and I'm a Idol junkie.

  1. DrillerAA says:

You didn't miss a great deal last night.
While I like David Cook and Taylor Hicks, I don't think any Idol is going to top Carrie Underwood's commercial success. She is in the fast lane and headed directly to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

  1. Marsha says:

My husband came into the room to find me watching after I declared that I would not. I don't usually pick it up until they are down to the last 24 or so. But I had declared earilier that I doubted I would watch this year at all. Can say I'll hang with it, but I might watch it occasionally. (famous last words right?)

  1. I've heard some of these names, but have never really watched Idol. A couple of times, including last night, I've watched one of the early episodes where they feature the really bad singers.

  1. This is one of the times I wish I had a T.V. I love American Idol and would totally watch it.

I can't believe you watched it on mute! LOL! That's the funny stuff... the beginning! Ah well. To each his own, right?

  1. I usually don't watch idol, but I think this season I might. I won't start though, until the real stuff starts. The staged bad people make me angry!

  1. I rely on your thoughtful self for just about all of my Idol news.

Waiting for your commentary on the new judge...smile.

  1. Julie says:

Ooooh nice pic of Taylor. Hope Dana pays you a visit.

Idol fanatic too....but hubby had to figure out how to tape it. He's a good man...sometimes.

I liked the rigger guy. He was not only nice to look at but he had an amazing voice. I think we'll see some great talent this year. What did ya think of the new judge, Kara?

  1. Ivanhoe says:

Cannot watch this year - my school is in the way. Gotta have my priorities straight :o)
p.s.: I sure will miss it though.

  1. Kanani says:

I can't believe I watched all 2 hours of it last night. It's such a weird show. People have such a skewed vision of their skills --they wouldn't go to Carnegie Hall and play the violin if they hadn't prepared for years and taken lessons. So I do wonder why some of them think they'll make it through the selection process.

The most talented of those shown (because most won't) was that girl with the tattoos and the weird colored hair. Of all of them --she's the real deal.

By the way, I've left you a message on MY BLOG!

  1. Anndi says:

If I had put the TV on mute during the season 5 auditions, I would have missed seeing this live:

"Can you give us twenty seconds of something else?" "Dude, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out...."

    *sigh*

You just HAD to post "Permanent" ... didn't you LOL

  1. Kanani says:

And the idiot in the bikini got in because she'll provide the idiocy during the season. She's the year's Sanjaya.

  1. Akelamalu says:

We have the X Factor over here - Alexandra Burke won it just before Christmas. I love the audition rounds they're so funny. I think one of our winners (Leona Lewis) is a big hit in America.

  1. TopChamp says:

Wow - this has been going for a while now, eh!?

We just finished ours and came out with a good singer. It's not really my bag though as a show.

  1. Nick: Hopefully you caught it tonight.

WT4W: We don't pay real close attention until Hollywood, unless somebody blows our doors off.

Drilleraa: Carrie Underwood definitely "arrived". I'm not really a fan though. Her voice gets a bit in the nasal/whine tone for me.

Marsha: Sometimes it's hard to look away.

Charles: I don't really care for these early auditions. But I keep a bit of an eye on it just in case someone shows something really special. Doesn't happen often.

Clancy: To me, those people are wasting time that could be better spent showing us actual talent. And FOX is wasting my time by showing them. But that's just my opinion.

    Mags: Staged! That's the word!

Katherine: I haven't formed an opinion about her yet. I must admit that I don't really know who she is.

Julie: Yeah, but did he tape it two nights in a row for you? LOL!

CWM: Nobody stood out for us last night. I don't have an opinion of the new gal yet.

Ivanhoe: I'm down to my last two weeks on my program. Good luck!

Kanani: That funky haired gal was interesting.

Ann: I saw that first audition. I keep it off mute until it's time to mute. But I missed Taylor's Hollywood auditions...I don't remember why. I did see the harmonica walk though. And the rest is Soul Patrol history!

Kanani: I can't imagine that they'll let her by with that bikini crap in Hollywood. She'll have to show some talent.

Akelamalu: I've heard the name Leona Lewis.

TC: Yup...7 seasons down and working on season 8.

  1. Cherie says:

I'm just not into the public humiliation rounds. It amazes me how much people love this part. I might start watching the last couple of months. But that's really so I can be ready for the start of "So You Think You Can Dance." LOL I also skip the audition rounds for that. :)

  1. We watched and of course are watching it right now. So far no one has grabbed me. I loved David Cook from the minute he stepped into the audition set. Gonna be tough to top last season. I really liked a lot of them.

OH! The David Cook commercial just played and it was awesome! I love his album =)

    Sorry...went all fan girl =)

  1. Liz Hill says:

Can you believe it's almost three years?

  1. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH yes... No. 5... the man who brought us all together with everlasting friendships!!!

  1. j says:

The only year that I got into it even just a little bit was when Rueben Studdard won (Alabama boy).

I like Taylor Hicks very much too, but I didn't get to watch that year because it was my night at the studio. You did NOT hold class late that year... the mommies of my little ballerinas had to get home to watch Taylor :)

  1. Taylor Hicks TOTALLY looks like my old friend from High School. It's kind of freaky, really...
