Blogger Album Project

I got an email about this from Starrlight, and I saw that Vinny had done it. And I heard that Mimi was promoting it too. So of course I had to do it.

It's called The Bloggers Album Project, and it was started by Robert Rouse, the host of the blog Left Of Normal.

This is what Robert has to say about the project:

I started the Blogger Album Project to discover how diverse - or collective - the Blogosphere is when it comes to taste in music. So far, the choices are interesting - to say the least! Many great albums - most I have owned - some I have never heard of, but will check out because of this list.

Send a list of your seven favorite albums (those are like large black compact discs to those of you who do not remember turntables before scratching), along with a link to your blog. I am hoping we can eventually have more than 1000 selections - the current total stands at 378 Album choices.

So here's my seven albums:

Taylor Hicks, Under the Radar
Dave Clark Five, Greatest Hits
Les Miserables, The Dream Cast in Concert
The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds
Don McLean, Greatest Hits
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Skynyrd's Innyrds
Queen, A Night at the Opera/The Works

If you click on the link to the project above, you can get to the site to view the list so far. There is also a link to Robert's email on the site so you can send your own selections.

I haven't spent much time over there yet, but now that I have the link I'll be checking it out. I enjoy checking out what music other people enjoy.

Yours is quite a varied list - I like it!

Going to think about it at work (give me something to do if I'm bored later).

Hard to pick just 7. There is so much great stuff to choose from.

Trav, your taste in music may be even more eclectic than mine! Les Les Miserables and Lynyrd Skynyrd? And your list is topped by Taylor Hicks!

I also love Le Mis and the Dave Clark Five! As much as I love Idol, I confess that I have only ever bought music from 1 Idol... I just got David Cook's CD for Christmas!

When I listed to the Dave Clark Five, the Beach Boys and Don MacLean it really WAS on an album! And I use to a 45 collection that wish I still had!

  1. Hum, I may have to do this on my blog, but for now, here's my seven.

Black Sabbath: We sold our soul.
    AC DC, Highway to Hell
    AC DC, Back in Black
Motley Crue: Shout at the Devil.
    Led Zepplin: Stairway to Heaven.
    Lynyrd Skynyrd: Gold and Platinum
    Deep Purple: Machine Head

  1. I may have a difficult time choosing only seven...and they might change depending on the stage of life I am in...

    Great Idea!

We have the Dave Clark Five and The Beach Boys. In fact we have a LOT of albums, singles, 45s and CD's! I'm showing my age now!

"bye bye Miss American Pie...." LOVE that song!!!

  1. TC: It was tough to narrow the list down.

    Cathy: No doubt.

    WT4W: I do like a variety.

Charles: I'm not a Crue fan, but I do like the rest of your list.

Katherine: The bands may change for me, but my fundamental style doesn't change much.

Akelamalu: I just hope the guy continues to update the site.

    Lois: Yup yup!

  1. Excellent list sweetie... I don't know how you could just pick 7... that would be so very hard for me to do... but you did well, as always!!!

Dang, Travis! To do that album thing would entail that I leave the house, go up the hill to my son's place and try to figure out where on earth he has all my albums stashed up there. Since I have no place here to set up my turntable at this juncture, and no space available here to store my many albums either, they are all residing for the time being at my son's house. Probably to never return to their rightful home either I suppose.
One album I have though which is a favorite of mine is the music from the Broadway production, "Hair!" That album jacket is hanging on the living room wall at my son's house cause he loves to decorate in eclectic ways.

  1. Starr sent me this e-mail, too; I've just never gotten around to it. Thanks for the reminder!

  1. What a cool idea. And I do love how varied your list is. My favorite from yours would be Queen.

I'll no doubt do this in the not-too-distant future. I popped by the site and scrolled past all those great album covers. For now I'll list some of my faves here:

    Death Proof film soundtrack
Kill Bill Volume 2 film soundtrack
    Jesus Christ Superstar film soundtrack
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
    Garbage - Version 2.0
    Muse - Absolution
Romeo and Juliet Complete Ballet Score by Prokofiev - released by Naxos

Oh, and by the way - Tag! You're it!

I enjoyed watching the movie, Les Miserable. It is such a moving story. And I kinda figured you'd have Taylor in there! LOL :P

  1. Oh this is going to be a problem. I have so many albums that I have bought in every format record, cassette, CD. But it is on my must do list.

  1. What, no Floyd? Are you MAD??? ;)
