  1. There used to be a lot of vinyl in the house when I was a kid. Alas, humidity and heat killed them... :(

  1. Akelamalu says:

We have all the Beatles albums on vinyl and many, many more. Also a huge collection of vinyl singles and I believe 7" singles are going on sale again! We only buy cds now though.

  1. Jeni says:

All my "vinyl" is up at my son's house -mainly cause I have no place here now to store it! I really need to get my turntable/cd player/radio and speakers set up someplace here though where I could actually use it and listen to some of the old vinyl stuff I have stashed at my son's place again.

  1. Julie says:

Well...i own(ed) 4 of them. But not on vinyl. What an interesting batch of albums!

  1. Ivanhoe says:

What a nice mix ;o) I had four of them as well. Have a great week, Trav :o)

  1. Cherie says:

I own three, but one of them is on cassette tape. Does this mean that I should send my albums to a consignment shop? I still have them all. I've never been good about throwing things away. Or maybe I should take them to LA and sell them at a used record store. It would probably pay for my trip! LOL

  1. j says:

That was SO eye opening... Billy Joel outsold the White Album??? Wow! Thriller was HUGE to me when it came out. And I don't own any albums anymore. Thriller is looooong gone.

    Excellent post!!

  1. Finally! Something I know something about. A sale......Yep. Love 'em all..even Michael Jackson. It was before he got weird.

  1. Wow, I own five of these, Pink Floyd, AC, DC, Led Zep, Fleetwood Mac, and the Eagles.

  1. Unknown says:

I have Beatles, Eagles, and Michael Jackson but not on vinyl!

  1. I have The White Album (favorite Beatles album) Rumors, Back In Black, The Wall, Led Zep, Thriller, and The Eagles. In fact, that Eagles albums plays a BIG part in my posts this week!

  1. I own all but the Garth and Shania and most of them are on vinyl, the only one on cd I think is the Billy Joel Greatest Hits. All the Beatles are on vinyl.

  1. We still have quite a bit of vinyl here in our house; we still have a turntable set up, too.

Hubby's quite proud of the collection that includes the original last Skynyrd album with the flames on the cover (which was pulled and redesigned after the crash, of course).

  1. Linda says:

I used to own a few of those but rid of my vinyl collection long, long ago (along with my 8-track collection!).

  1. This list is a sham. Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" is still so popular that factories have been constructed solely to produce that album, alone (this is the only album in history this has been done for.)

    Wikipedia on DSOTM;
"...is still frequently ranked by music critics as one of the greatest and most influential albums of all time."
"...is the third best selling album of all time worldwide."
"Though it held the No. 1 spot in the USA for only one week, it spent a total of 741 consecutive weeks, over fourteen years, on Billboard's list of the top 200 best selling albums, longer than any other album in the history of music."
"Sales of the album worldwide total over forty million as of 2004, with an average of 8,000 copies sold per week and a total of 400,000 in the year of 2002 — making it the 200th best-selling album of that year nearly three decades after its initial release. It is estimated that one in every fourteen people in the U.S. under the age of fifty owns or owned a copy of this album.[18] According to an 2 August 2006 Wall Street Journal article, although the album was released in 1973, it has sold 7.7 million copies since 1991 in the U.S. alone and continues to log 9,600 sales per week domestically."
"On 6 April 1998, the RIAA certified the album at 15x platinum, denoting sales of fifteen million in the United States alone - making it their biggest-selling album there."

Shania Twain? Give me a break.

  1. Terra: I'm worried that much of the vinyl I have has been ruined by years of storage. I guess we'll see this spring when I start back up with my music conversion project.

Akelamalu: I inherited all of my mom's singles...maybe 1000 or so in a great little carry case she had from way back.

Jeni: Oh you really should try and make some room. I love evenings spent with just candles and good music.

Julie: Quite the mix, isn't it?

Ivanhoe: I guess it makes sense that a lot of us would have some of them, since these are the big sellers.

Cherie: I'll bet you could sell some of them on ebay if you were of a mind.

    Jennifer: Pretty interesting eh?

Mimi: That was back when I enjoyed his music.

V: I'm hanging my rooting interest on the Giants this time around. And perhaps Tennessee...I've always had great respect for Jeff Fischer.

Charles: Those would have been my guesses for you too, although the Fleetwood Mac is kind of surprising.

Dana: I don't have the White Album on vinyl, but I do have a few other Beatles LPs.

Starr: One of the guys I work with told me he's got over 60gig of music on his itunes! He said it comes from sharing a bunch of play lists over the years. Can you imagine? He's like his own radio station!

John: I have to replace my Billy Joel CD. Half of it is missing. I don't even know when I lost it. Just opened it up not long ago and only one CD was there.

Songbird: Sweet! Most of my Skynyrd is on CD.

Linda: Oddly enough, I think we've hit the stage where a generation of parents will be asking their kids what's the attraction to vinyl. Kind of like we did when CDs first came out.

Lana: You know, I was skeptical about the list too. But I checked multiple sources and they all had the albums listed in the same order.

  1. cathy says:

I converted a lot of my music last year I have The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac... actually looking through the list I don't have Garth and who is Shania? LOL.
