Mo's Manic Monday - Snow

Welcome to another Manic Monday with Morgen. Don't forget to cruise by MM HQ at the Manic Monday blog. Today's theme is Snow.

Now this is a timely topic because it snowed overnight Saturday and lightly during much of the day yesterday. It wasn't enough to stick on the ground, but the trees got a nice dusting and it looked pretty.

I posted pictures of what our place looked like after the snow we had in December. Here are a few more.

It's hard to tell in this photo, but there was plenty of snow and packed ice between my feet and the pavement. And that snow I was standing in came up well past my ankles. We measured just over 9" in the drive and nearly a foot in some drifts around the building.

This shows some of the ruts we had to deal with to try and get the Liberty out. There was no way we were moving Pam's BMW. And my Liberty nearly got stuck a couple of times. I bought it in southern California and only got the 2-wheel drive.

That's my Liberty to the left. My parking spot is right at the end of the covered parking row. There was 2-3 inches piled up on the vehicle after one particularly windy snow storm. And those steps were slick. At one point we had to trek along the side of the building to be sure of our footing.

This is where we measured nearly a foot of snow on the ground. It's just to the right of the stairs leading down to our place.

It wasn't all pretty. This is a bit of plowed muck at the mall parking lot.

But we got through it. And this guy lasted for quite awhile.

And of course the good news for us is that we don't have this for 4-5 months!

The piles of snow in town are always gross aren't they?! We have not seen much snow this year, not that I'm complaining. Snow in the south.

  1. Beautiful, but yes, it certainly does turn to muck. A shame.

  1. How adorable, there's a snowman!!

You'd be surprised how well a BMW drives in the snow....My 3-series handles it well!

More snow?! It's getting crazy over there. You didn't really think you'd get that much of it after the move, right? Well. I do love the beauty of it, just not those dirty slushy piles.

  1. Polly says:

I forgot to mention...leaving the BMW is probably a wise idea. Our friend has a roadster and just calls in to work on snowy days...he just can't make it in...although he's tried. When you live somewhere that there isn't supposed to be snow, you don't give it much consideration.
    Happy Monday.

I for one am glad it's gone!

I just got back from visiting the snow and ice up in Minnesota. It's amazing how quickly it all comes back to you. I think I'll be good for a looooong time. LOL

  1. Nice pics! So pretty. Those unsightly parking lot piles of snow... we have them too, but our are like small moutains- 15 or 20 ft high and twenty or thirty cars or more in some cases... like 50-60 and they don't melt until spring. They get all black and disgusting as they melt. Not a pretty picture. ;)

So... you like my game... did you wanna write in it? :) I've read your stuff and I would love it if you participated. Whadaya think?

  1. Yes, snow isn't so bad if it comes to visit and then knows when to leave.

i love the fire hydrant in the snow! funny that it is yellow and green...but it does make a nice contrast to the white and shows just how much snow you got!

we have a bmw too...it's awful in the snow no matter what tires we put on it!

  1. I saw Travis' feet!

    WOOOOO

    Don't miss the snow...nope I don't

  1. We got a few ice crystals blowing in the air and it was really, really cold outside. Your place is so pretty.

  1. Akelamalu says:

I'm just thankful we don't have that much snow! :(

  1. Ivanhoe says:

Lucky you. We have another storm coming tomorrow. Like the foot of snow in last couple of weeks was not enough :o)

  1. Jackie says:

Gorgeous pics.... my faves being of the home.

    Happy MM :)

Woo Hoo! Finally a picture of Trav! Gosh what gorgeous... feet.

I would LOVE to see snow like that. It just doesn't happen much in Alabama and NEVER in South Alabama.

  1. Gayle says:

That is good news...I'll have my snow for 7 months! I bet 2-wheel drive in that wet stuff is real adventure!

  1. Wait...those were YOUR feet? I thought you had four paws? Where are the other two?

Nifty series of snow photos here! I especially enjoyed your feet and the yellow hydrant (which could have done double duty for Mellow Yellow Monday) and the snowman too. Thanks for adding yourself to my followers at Small Reflections.
    Hugs and blessings,

4 - 5 months a year? Baby talk! We can have this kind of snow every single month of the year - and have.

How I long for New Orleans!

  1. I love the pics. That was some snow. Brrr! We're having freezing rain in the morning. I am not looking forward to it.

  1. Did you make the snowman?

  1. Julie says:

Now wait just a minute! I've NEVER see wolf feet look like THAT!

    Are you lion?

    Bwhahhahahhaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Pretty Life: Welcome to MM!

CWM: Once you start driving on it, it just goes muddy and mushy.

Anthony: I guess even horses and sleighs would muck it up too.

Terra: We had 3 of them in the complex but I only photographed this one.

Lois: Not so much with the Z4.

    Julia: It was!

Polly: Only a very little dusting. Nothing like what we had last month.

    Cheesy: Me too!

Cherie: I'd be ready for spring, except that's when the spiders come.

Clancy: I was surprised to see a little left over pile in a parking lot over the weekend.

    Charles: Indeed.

BV: But that little Z4 sure is fun when the weather is fine!

    V: HA!

Jamie: The only thing wrong with where I live is the spiders.

  1. Akelamalu: I hope we don't get it again until next December if at all.

Ivanhoe: I know. I've heard from others in Ohio and it's pretty miserable.

Jackie: It feels like a cabin in the woods here, and we're 100 yards from a major freeway and 10-12 miles from Seattle.

Jennifer: That snow was great until we had to go outside in it.

    Gayle: 7 months! No way!

    Songbird: Didn't you know? I'm a shapeshifter!

HRG: The hydrants really gave a good indication of how much snow there was.

Aims: I can't even imagine. I guess I picked the right part of the north.

Mimi: The neighbor's grandkids made the snowman. They did a good job.

Julie: Hehehehehehe! Nope! I'm a shapeshifter baby!

  1. TopChamp says:

You have real feet?! I don't think I've seen you in a photo before, have I?

We've had a lot of snowy days but not much settled snow.

  1. Shapeshifter...LOL

    EXCELLENT my friend

  1. DrillerAA says:

I could handle a little snow right now, but we got ice instead. So, I guess I'm having an "Ice Day", can't get to work. I hate it when that happens. Yeah, right.

  1. RW says:

Awesome shots Trav! You have captured that white stuff well, brrrr!

  1. Marilyn says:

I'm ready for summer... have been since October, but I guess I'll appreciate it even more when it gets here for having been through winter.

  1. Dianne says:

I love the fire hydrant wearing it's funny snow hat :)

  1. You would HATE the snow belt in Canada. Trust me. I mean, how DO you shovel snow that's 4-7' deep, anyway?
