Each president recites the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Congratulations President Barack Obama. You have your work cut out for you Sir.

Very true, Trav, that he does most certainly have his work cut out for him -and a whole hell of a lot of it at that!
But, as he said on Saturday in his Baltimore speech, change, recovery, all that, will not come about overnight or even quickly, and also, that he can not do it alone. He needs us, all of us here, to work with him, help in whatever way we can in our own little corners in this big, beautiful land.
And I am really excited to be able to watch this historic event begin to unfold today with his inauguration and over the coming years to see if we can bring about much needed changes for our nation.
    Peace.

It will, after the past 8 years, be unique to have a president who I believe will "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I anxiously await the changes that will come. But I do realize it will take time and a joint effort from us all.

And what a speech he gave :o) I secretly watched on work pc...

  1. That he does...but I have faith he can do it...

  1. Julie says:

People need to shut up and give him a chance. Yeah....coming from someone who didn't even vote for him.

Shocked? I am....in myself. I have my faith...and even though I'm not strong in many political beliefs I am strong in my faith and that settles the frantic spirit.

The only thing that upsets me about this whole inauguration thingy? I found it so fascinating that I didn't put in a good work day.

Tomorrow, tomorrow there's always tomorrow...it's only a day away!

  1. Yes he does and he needs all of us to help hime make it happen.

Happy America! Yesterday was truly historic. Today the work begins for all of us. No more excuses!

I invite your blog readers to smile at this photo of Barack Obama tearing up some fried fish in much the same way we hope he will tear up our current recession.

I'm not going to say what I really think about him, I'll just say, "I hope I'm wrong." I am willing to give him a chance to see what he will do. I'm not thrilled to see his "change" start by bring back as many Clintonistas as he hsa.

    We'll see.

  1. Jeni: I didn't know if I was going to be able to see it live, but we had it on at work so I got to see the oath and the speech.

    WT4W: Thanks for stopping by.

    Nick: Indeed.

Tookie: It's going to be an interesting first 100 days.

    Jay: No kidding!

    Sarge: I'm glad.

laughingwolf: My expectations are high, but tempered by realism.

Ivanhoe: It was a very good speech.

    V: I'm confident.

Julie: You're just ready to step up and do what it takes, no matter who is in charge.

    Mike: Well said.

    Coco: Thank you my dear.

Katherine: He stumbled a bit, but I think he ultimately got all the words right.

Kanani: It's a daunting task, but I think he's up to it.

    Charles: Patience and persistence.

    Lana: Me too!

Cheesy: It was a very good day.

Jennifer: It's a tough time...so many will be critical of everything he does.

John: Same here. I haven't felt this involved in the process before.

Kimmie: If we can come together as a nation instead of ripping ourselves apart, we'll be ok.

    Villager: I'm ready to work!

    Gene: Fair enough.

  1. actually they redid the oath today…

I've always been sorta a POTUS trivia freak...and knew about the other two instances where the oath had to re administered...so I figured it would be again..
