Saturday Randomness

One of my favorite things is a full breakfast...eggs, bacon, hash browns, muffins drowning in butter and topped with jelly, a good cup of coffee. Yum-OH! But in a pinch, a warm toasted pop tart will get it done.

Safety tip...properly interpret the kitty pee-pee dance at all times, get out of bed, and clean the box! At least I don't torture Mr Tucker with doors...

The new Tuscani Lasagna from Pizza Hut is really good. And when you order online, as we always do, you can order from the office as you're getting ready to leave and schedule a delivery time. They usually hit the time +/- 5 minutes. Be prepared though because it really only feeds a family of four light eaters, and only if you add a salad or something. Pam and I demolished it last night.

Today I get to watch college hoops all day. YAY me!

I have ignored all Super Bowl hype for the last two weeks. I have a traditional dislike of Pittsburgh. Why? Hello...Raider fan for 42 years. But I like Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, and that defense led by Troy Polamalu. I do like Arizona WR Larry Fitzgerald. But there isn't much else I enjoy about the Cardinals.

I had a lousy season picking winners and I really tanked during the playoffs. But I'll make my final pick of the season. I call Pittsburgh to win.

One of the things that attracted me to my 2003 Jeep Liberty was the tough stance and rounded edges. But the body style has been re-designed. It still has a tough stance, but for reasons passing understanding the designers have squared the edges off. Now it's even more square than a Grand Cherokee, which is nice but not my style at all. That's one of the reasons I've been holding off on an upgrade.

This year may be the time to buy, perhaps this summer once we see how the economy goes. My current employer is well-positioned to ride out the downturn, and extremely well-positioned to lead the recovery. We're in a growing segment of data storage, so as long as we maintain fiscal responsibility we should be ok. But I'll remain patient.

I did have my eye on the Jeep Compass, which looks good on the showroom floor but doesn't really measure up to the Jeep brand. I'd love to go back to Wrangler, but the fuel economy just isn't there and I'm well past my off road days. Although, there's little doubt that Wrangler could have gotten me through the snow days.

So I guess I'm open to suggestions. Fuel economy is the driving force. Comfort comes next, because my knees and back aren't getting any better and I need to be able to enter and exit the vehicle easily and without a lot of bending. Then comes performance and handling, safety, and all the other stuff you should consider before settling on a vehicle.

Pam swears by BMW. I've always been a Mercedes guy myself, but her little Z4 is great to drive once I fold myself into it. She's salivating over the new Z4 Roadster.

I guess I'll just have to keep an open mind and see what catches my eye. Of course, if I can find me a 1956 T Bird, then all bets are off!

  1. A poptart subbing for bacon. Dude you better lie down. You must be light headed.

  1. I never understood the 'door' on the litter box thing. Pete would do the same thing if ours had doors - except instead of walking away in the end, he'd go back in to see how he got out!
I have to admit I'm a fan of the 'boxier' jeeps - my '96 Jeep Cherokee was a boxy one and I loved that vehicle!
When I got my Pontiac Vibe, I didn't care for the current roundy Jeeps!
    Have a great weekend!

Go STEELERS! I've gotta side with mah PA Honey on this.

I think TE might be right.. so, what kind of poptart?

I just got home from a funeral and a nice big buffet meal after the service. Food, food and more food -and all really good. I ate. I was full. So I thought anyway till I come to your blog and see that breakfast pictured there. Made me hungry all over again. Something I didn't figure would happen to way later today!
THe cars -very interesting. I have a Jeep Cherokee Sport 1997 or 1998 -not sure on the year as my son-in-law found it for me when the transmission went out on my van last summer. This puppy is a gem -just walks right over the ice and snow piles in our parking area in front of the house. The church where the funeral was today -on the side of a hill -snow-covered roads up to it (although plowed) and my little old Jeep took it without a second though! But the T-Bird -oh the memories that brought back to me! I'll have to remember to post sometime about my friend Louie who had a 56 T-bird, sort of a lt lime green and it was definitely his BABY!

  1. Trave,I'm with you a '56 T-bird.Oh my,I'd love to get my habds on one also or the next best thing would be a Corvet Stingray.

  1. Breakfast food is SOOOOOOO awesome! I can eat breakfast all day. I actually used to lunch at IHOP all the time at my last job.
I never buy van/jeep/truck things, as then everyone expects you to help them move. It would make hauling my art around easier, though.
Nevermind the t-bird...bring me a nice, minty GTO!

Looking forward to the Super Bowl GAME tomorrow, except that will mean that the season is over. :( I've been avoiding all the hype, as well, to the point that I almost thought that I missed the game last week. Two weeks off is entirely too long! LOL

  1. OK. The breakfast looks yummy and now I want a cheese omelette.

But you're talking about football and cars the rest of the post. I have nothing to say. Nothing!!!

  1. There's a Super Bowl?
    When?

  1. Barb says:

I thought Mr. Tucker was much older, not a kitten! I wonder where I got that idea? I must be losing it faster than I thought!

I have cat flaps -one to the outside back patio and yard as well as one out to the garage so I think Gandalf and Grayson would be OK with the door on the litter box. However, I just have a plain old tall dish pan for them in the garage. All the 'real' litter boxes I tried were too low and litter went everywhere! So I spend $2.50 at Walmart and we've been good to go for 4 years now!

hashbrowns...nomnomnom...I could eat those all day everyday.

  1. Travis: I know, but I only said it would do in a pinch.

Mo: I guess trying to keep litter from going everywhere is a good thing, but there must be a better way than a door.

Ann: Well, any kind of poptart. But today I had maple & brown sugar. And I'm sure TE is right about the bacon.

Jeni: You gotta have good 4 wheel drive living back east.

Mike: I'm all about the baby bird as I've said in the past, but I could also be happy with a '53 'Vette.

Lana: I love IHOP! And I do see your point about the moving thing.

Cherie: I'm ready for the season to be over. As much as I love the game, my teams just didn't do it for me this year and there comes a point when I'm ready to start hoping for next season.

Mimi: Nothing? Really? You? Check NBC at 6pm tomorrow.

WT4W: Sorry to be a bit misleading. Mr Tucker will be 12 this summer. I swiped the video of another kitty off youtube.

    Hope: Indeed!

  1. We are Super bowl commercial and half time watchers (sacrilege I know). Still I'm going for Arizon because I've never been to Pittsburgh and I've Been To Arizona

  1. That's a big-time breakfast, Travis. You can't go wrong with that starting out the day.

And I agree about the Pizza Hut pasta dishes. There's no way it feeds four - unless you have a lot of other stuff to go with it.

  1. I'll take one of those breakfasts, Travis. Plus a black Jaguar XJ6, if you've got an extra one hanging around.

  1. Jeff B says:

I was Jonesing for something sweet last night, and without anything better, a Pop-Tart had to fill the void.

Lisa is a big Steelers fan, so its safe to say that's who she will be rooting for.

I share your admiration for Hines Ward. The guy seems to have a permanent smile on doesn't he? Still I'm pulling for Arizona this time around. Something fun about going for the underdog I guess.

  1. Jan says:

I love a big breakfast too although we tend to do those at night. More time that way. lol

    Super Bowl? What Super Bowl?

  1. Mhymmm, bacon. hash browns.

  1. TopChamp says:

Looks tasty. Sounds tasty. The only bit I don't understand is the adding jam (that's what you mean by jelly, right?) to a savoury breakfast.

I am surviving on caffeine this weekend so think I'll have to go and get another cup of tea now.

Pizza Hut here is rubbish - had tea there before a gig a few months ago and ordered pasta that cost £7.00 for a tiny bowl of spaghetti with tomato sauce. It must be different in America because that lasagne looks amazing.

    That kitten is soooooooo cute.

  1. I have a problem getting in and out of small cars myself. My hubby's Civic is a great, great car, but it's a b*tch to try and climb out of for me. I rarely drive it. Maybe you could check out the other smaller line of SUVs like the Toyota Rav4, the Honda CR-V, the Ford Escape.

Oh, and full breakfasts? THE BEST!

    GO CARDS!

  1. Jamie: We enjoy the commercials as well. I've heard that they may be a bit more subdued this year in deference to the economy. I guess we'll see.

Southern: Those pasta dishes sure are tasty.

Julia: I'll check the back lot.

Jeff: I should be pulling for the underdog, but I just don't like Arizona. Now be kind to Lisa if the Cards win, and let her gloat if Pittsburgh wins. It's the right thing to do!

Tookie: I love breakfast at any meal!

    Charles: Yessir.

TC: I think jelly is slightly different than jam, but it could just be semantics. I enjoy jelly on toast and biscuits.

Songbird: I do like the Escape. It's a Ford, it's great on fuel economy, and it comes in a hybrid.

How do you feel about grits?

The video was SO cute. I was cheering for the kitty at the end!

You MUST find your T'bird! You must! Baby blue of course. And find a lovely winding road complete with wind rushing through your hair as you drive into the sunshine bursting through the copper beech trees!
