That's a wrap on the first day of Madness

I had a great first day watching the tournament. I made scrambled egg burritos with bacon bits, cheese, and Ranch dressing. I snacked on corn chips and cream cheese. I had CAKE. I drank V8 Fusion juice and Stewart's Diet Root Beer.
I even caught up on blog rounds while I was watching the games. I really can multi-task.
Last year my bracket was pretty much busted on the first day. This year my day one record is 13-3.
#15 seed CS Northridge nearly pulled off the upset of the day, but #2 seed Memphis took control late and survived.
#14 seed American pushed #3 seed Villanova to the brink.
#3 seed Gonzaga survived a scare from #14 seed Akron. Hey! That was the Zags against the Zips.
#12 seed Western Kentucky held on late to score the only major upset of the day against #5 seed Illinois.
Here's a summary of the day's results.
West Regional
#1 Connecticut beat #16 Chattanooga, 103-47
#9 Texas A&M beat #8 BYU, 79-66
#5 Purdue beat #12 Northern Iowa, 61-56
#4 Washington beat #13 Mississippi St, 71-58
#10 Maryland beat #7 California, 84-71
#2 Memphis beat #15 CS Northridge, 81-70
South Reginal

#7 Texas beat #10 Minnesota, 76-62
#6 UCLA beat #11 VCU, 65-64
#2 Duke beat #15 Binghamton, 86-62
Now after a good night's sleep I'll be ready for 16 more games.
Happy March Madness!
I went 12-4 for the first day.
I missed BYU, VCU, Butler and Illinois. But of those four, I only had Ilinois winning another game. The Villanova comeback was quite impressive, as was VCU's - although they lost by one.
