Welcome to Chapter 5 of my feature. I'm on a quest to fight the crippling effects of chronic pain from an old knee injury by getting out and walking. You can trace my journey by clicking here.

In Issaquah, not too far from where I live, there is a classic old style burger joint called XXX Root Beer Drive In. Every spring and throughout the summer, there are car shows during weekends.

The season opened last Sunday. Here are some of the cars we saw.

A couple of 1955 T-Birds.

A 1956 T-Bird.

A 1956 Corvette.

A 1966 Chevelle.

A 1967 Mustang GT500. The dash on this one is autographed by Caroll Shelby. I talked to the owner of this Mustang and he said that the restoration was completed last year. All of the exterior has been restored back to original.

A 1970 Nova.

A 1972 Chevelle.

A 1925 Ford T-Bucket.

A 1931 Buick Model 56-C.

And one more beautiful 1956 T-Bird.

Wonderful, Trav! Those old cars (quite of few younger than me) and the frosted my sure bring back memories.

I do like that '56 Chevy leading the parade. These are some great photos. Why am I not surprised that you found the T-Birds. Have a great week-end.

My brother, who restores classic cars, would love that car show!

The Mustang is my favorite but then I've always been a sucker for fast horses!

  1. Ivanhoe says:

Look at that frosted mug! Oh and the cars are not bad either ;o)
    Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

  1. 1956 was a great year! Love these classic beauties.

Cool classic cars... and nothing beats a big ol' frosty mug of root beer. Sounds like the makings of a great outing!

  1. I'll take a frosty mug and an old mustang

There's a place in central Florida we use to go to one weekend a month. It's called Old Town (I think) and there are tons of classic cars. I can't imagine why I didn't carry my camera with me back them!

Yup, It's Old Town! I had to google it...

How great it is to see all those old cars. My grandparents owned a T-Bird that looks exactly like that 1956 T-Bird you posted. It even looks like the same color. My mom, who lives in Carson City, NV told me, a long time ago, they have a show in Reno like that. It's called Hot August Nights. I guess it's a huge success featuring all those old cars.

  1. Nick: I love a good car show.

Drilleraa: I might have mentioned once or twice that I'm a T-Bird guy. LOL!

Linda: I like the Ponies too.

Ivanhoe: That root beer was dang good too.

NNG: Ford and Chevy made some good stuff in '56.

Lois: It was terrific. And the cheeseburgers were yummy too!

Charles: You and Lana would have liked this place.

Barb: Cool! I'm gonna check that link out.

Thom: My folks have been to Hot August Nights. That's a really good show.

You must have thoroughly enjoyed this! How do you get the little "frames" around the pictures?

  1. A virtual feast of cars!
I enjoyed learning about them and seeing the pics. Do you find yourself worrying more about the blogging shots then enjoying your day? I hope not.
We love learning about your part of the world. Thanks for sharing.

  1. TopChamp says:

Ha! Travis and classic cars... You had a beautiful day for it. I'm a real girl about cars - even after a lift in one I can only remember the colour.

  1. Akelamalu says:

What a great day out! Love the old cars, especially the Corvette - I'd love to own that! :)

  1. I want that '56 T-Bird. I've wanted that '56 T-Bird for 53 years. :-)

  1. Meribah says:

I love old cars. They have sooo much more personality than modern ones!

  1. Now that is just too cool! I love to go to car shows. The amount of time people spend on fixing up these classics is limitless. Nice job, Trav.

  1. What a great shot of that frosty mug.

And my favorite from the cars is the Mustang. Really great tour around the car show. Thanks!

  1. What, no GTO? What kind of blasphemy is that?
In a different vein, I was recently thinking that we're lucky to see some of these old, classic cars around. Future generations won't have the same experience. I mean, an '88 Taurus (or insert "modern" car of your choice here,) will NEVER be a classic, y'know? Even if they were built to last, which we know they're not.

  1. Julie: I don't know how those little frames get there. I just download from the camera and then upload to the post. It's pretty cool though.

Mimi: First comes enjoyment. But I do try to get the best shots I can. That kind of adds to the fun I think.

TC: Don't let my mom hear you say that about girls and cars. She's better than I am about this stuff.

Akelamalu: My preference is the '53 Vette, but there were some other really nice ones from the '60s too.

Jamie: Ditto. Not the 53 years part, but you know what I mean.

    Meri: Agreed!

CWM: We've got some really good shows in the area. I suspect there might be another walk about with this theme.

Julia: I love a good Pony too.

Lana: I'll keep an eye out for a good GTO when I hit the muscle car show. And I agree that there are very few cars from 1980 forward that will reach the classic level. Part of the appeal is being able to restore them on your own. But with computers and all that, it gets tougher.

  1. Marsha says:

Sweet cars and a great walk. Thanks for sharing!

  1. Jeni says:

My son would so love seeing those classic cars! He has a 1967 VW Baja and last summer, he got a 1971 Chevy pickup truck -all done up in a bright yellow. His Dad restored the truck out in Nevada and Clate flew out there to pick up the truck and drove it cross-country then to get it back home. I'll have to get a good picture of it sometime soon and post it. I saw in the first picture, with several cars in a line, a neat old chevy. It looked like it may have been a 1957 but I couldn't tell exactly with the fins, if it was the '57 version with the really distinct fins or the '56 with the not as big fins. The '57 Chevy is my personal favorite of the "classic" cars. Great post and I loved seeing the T-birds you show-cased too!

  1. I am so fond of old classical cars! Thanks for sharing these pictures. Wishing you all the best for pain relief from the knee injury.

  1. I was salivating over that Shelby. And that was just a couple of photos!

Awesome cars! We're having an old car show at the nursing home next week - wanna come?

  1. we use to have a XXX here!

    smile.

  1. Cheesy says:

Just pass me the drool rag please... purdy vehicles!
