Welcome to another Manic Monday with Morgen. Don't forget to cruise by MM HQ at the Manic Monday blog. Today's theme is Shower.

Let the champagne shower commence!

The Lakers are NBA Champions!

And there was no doubt about this one. The Lakers took control in the 2nd quarter, extended to a 10 point lead at the half, and never allowed the Magic to get the game closer than 11 points in the 2nd half.

And now Kobe can put away the scowls and grimaces for the summer. The job is complete.

Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher win their 4th championships. Phil Jackson wins his 10th as a coach, surpassing Red Auerbach for the most championships by a head coach. And the Lakers franchise wins its 15th title all time.

Kobe averaged 33 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. He was named the series MVP.

Congratulations to the Orlando Magic, who gave it all they had but just didn't have enough. Not when the Lakers decided to focus on and commit to playing defense and dominating the boards.

And now the NBA Champs are the Los Angeles Lakers!

    Congratulations to your Lakers.
Sorry, I'm just not an NBA fan and basketball should not run until the middle of June!

  1. Ivanhoe says:

Congrats to your boys, Trav! They certainly deserved that.
Did you hear that rumor that Shaq may be coming to Cavs? I don't know what to think about it yet. He may be a great asset as he is a big boy, but he is getting old...

    If you're happy... I'm happy :)

Congrats Trav...it was a rather boring game after the Lakers took hold in the 2nd quarter...just no turning back. Wow number 15...can you believe it? And 10 for Phil Jackson? Only thing swetter would have been if they had won in LA. Congrats to Orlando...there's always next year

  1. Akelamalu says:

    You're celebrating then? LOL

  1. I misspelled KOBE.
    Typical.

  1. Yeah Lakers!!!! Don't they usually do those showers with Gatorade and then use the champagne as squirt guns?

  1. Driller: Sure it should! June is the perfect month for the NBA to end.

Barb: It was fantastic to wake up and remember that my boys are NBA champs!

    Mary: Thanks!

Ivanhoe: I did hear about it. You should be concerned.

    Ann: I'm happy.

    NNG: They rock!

Thom: I can see how it would be boring because it wasn't really in doubt, but I was excited through the whole game. I loved how they took control and made the championship statement.

    Akelamalu: I am!

    V: They did indeed!

    Linda: Wooooooooo!

Mimi: I've never actually seen it spelled that way, so I don't mind.

Jamie: I guess the Gatorade pour hasn't really caught on with the NBA.

The word champions seems to be synonymous with the Lakers.

I've wondered how many times you've shaken your head in disgust today with the way some of the LA fans have taken to the streets. That's a mentality I've never understood and know quite well you are not a part of that group.

  1. I just wanted to stop by to say thank you for your comment earlier, and for all of your encouragement these last few months. It means a lot.

    Thanks. :)

That is awesome! Congratulations to the Lakers and Congrats to you for a year of bragging rights!

  1. Sorry, Trav, I know that you are a Lakers fan, but I can't help but be a bit bummed that yet another championship went to another large market team. Sigh.
