Tough break for Mercer Island

Posted: Sunday, August 23, 2009 by Travis Cody in

Northwest Champion Mercer Island Little League had a 3-0 lead through the top of the 5th inning today, but the Midwest Champions from Iowa scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Iowa held on to win, and Mercer Island is eliminated after losing it's first 2 games.

All the teams are guaranteed 3 games in pool play, so the kids will get to play one more game. They'll face the Southeast Champions from Georgia on Monday.

I found out that Mercer Island has only had the Little League program for 4 years. It's a grand achievement to make it to Williamsport in that short amount of time. Congratulations to the boys and the community!

Wow...4 years and they've already made it this far. Excellent. Win or loose they have a lot to be proud of :)

  1. Congrats to them! That's pretty cool.

I love these tag thingies. Gives me something to write about when I think all the rest of my life is boring. :)
