This is...

Well, not really. There's no competition, no live dancing, and no voting. It's just Nigel Lythgoe bringing us a list of the 15 Best Dance Routines, sorted by season.

Regrettably, there are no LEGSES. Wait...there are LEGSES in some of the clips!

And there are 15 amazing moments from the last 5 seasons of So You Think You Can Dance.

Season 1

Hip Hop, choreographed by Shane Sparks, danced by Destini Rogers and Jamile McGee.
All That Jazz, Broadway choreographed by Tyce Diorio, danced by Melody Lacayanga and Nick Lazzarini

Season 2

Black Mambo, choreographed by Alex Da Silva, danced by Heidi Groskreutz and Benji Schwimmer
Why, choreographed by Tyce Diorio, danced by Allison Holker and Ivan Koumaev
The Bench, choreographed by Mia Michaels, danced by Heidi Groskreutz and Travis Wall

Season 3

Hummingbird and Flower, choreographed by Wade Robson, danced by Jamie Goodwin and Hok Konishi
The Table Dance, choreographed by Mandy Moore, danced by Sabra Johnson and Neil Haskell
Samba, choreographed by Dmitry Chaplin and Heidi Groskreutz, danced by Lacey Schwimmer and Danny Tidwell
Transformers, choreographed by Shane Sparks, danced by Lauren Gottlieb and Pasha Kovalev

Season 4

The Garden, choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, danced by Courtney Galiano and Mark Kanemura
Bleeding Love, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D'Umo, danced by Chelsie Hightower and Mark Kanemura
Hometown Glory, choreographed by Mia Michaels, danced by Katee Shean and Joshua Allen

Season 5

Disco, choreographed by Doriana Sanchez, Janette Manrara and Brandon Bryant
Addiction, choreographed by Mia Michaels, danced by Kayla Radomski and Kupono Aweau
If It Kills Me, choreographed by Travis Wall, Jeanine Mason and Jason Glover

So that's what Nigel thought. Well, I don't really know who decided those were the 15 best. It's awfully subjective. But I know which 15 routines are my favorites. I don't say best...just favorite.

And I didn't parcel mine out by season. As I thought about the possibilities throughout the day, I just picked the 15 dances that stuck in my mind. You'll notice that my list overlaps a bit with the "official" list. You'll also notice that my list includes group dances. Here they are in no particular order.

Bleeding Love

The Bench

Ramalama, choreographed by Wade Robson and danced by Wade, Travis Wall, Dmitry Chaplin, Donyelle Jones, Benji Schwimmer, Ivan Koumaev, Allison Holker, Martha Nichols, and Heidi Groskreutz

You Can't Stop the Beat - I wish I could find this clip from the show. It was a show stopping group number from Season 3.

You Can't Stop the Beat from Season 2, choreographed by Tyce Diorio, danced by Donyelle Jones and Benji - I can't find this clip either. Trust me...it's great!

Black Mambo

Hummingbird and Flower

Why

All That Jazz

West Coast Swing from Season 3, choreographed by Benji Schwimmer, danced by Sara Von Gillern and Pasha Kovalev

Silence from Season 4, choreographed by Tyce Diorio, danced by Jessica King and William Wingfield

Top 16 from Season 5, choreographed by Dmitry Chaplin and Tabith & Napoleon D'Umo.

If It Kills Me

Samba from Season 3

Hometown Glory

It was tough to narrow this down to only 15. There are so many amazing performances over the five seasons. And we're about to add a whole bunch more outstanding moments and memories as Season 6 begins with auditions on 9 September.

Tune in next week!

You know how if you need to throw up, you take some Ipecac? I confirmed that if I need to throw up, I watch the DBCD...

I did a happy dance when they showed two Mark Kanemura dances :)!!!

Soon, you'll be reviewing the auditions! *grin*

  1. Lois: I'll be by soon!

Charles: I think you understand all the words, just maybe not the order I put them in.

    Akelamalu: I am!

Ann: They aren't reviews. They are a series of random observations.

I wish there was a clip for You Can't Stop the Beat too. My girls and I saw Hairspray in Memphis. Love it!

I'll be back later to watch some of the clips when the house is quiet. South Carolina and North Carolina State are on the TV right now.

  1. That is an impressive list of highlights, almost enough to convince a non-fan to watch the show.

  1. Ooh...Silence was awesome =)

"All That Jazz" was my favorite of all of the entire 15 but that's because I'm partial to that type of dance. I knew that the 'cancer' dance would be the top choice but I just still didn't really care for it that much. Maybe I am a cold-hearted wench after all??

Good to see you back, Travis!
