Take This Tune is a feature hosted by my pal Jamie at Duward Discussion. Jamie puts up a video prompt complete with lyrics to the song, and the task is to write something inspired by the title of the song or something in the lyrics.

Please scroll down for the first prompt, a tribute to Mary Travers of Peter, Paul, and Mary. Today's second prompt is September Morn by Neil Diamond.

"We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play"

There are times when I feel that I'm living "some romantic play". There are times when I feel like I stumbled into something that I don't really deserve. There are times when I feel like I've stolen something. There are times when I feel like my life can't get any better than it is, and then it does.

Those times are every time I look and see her beside me.

I never knew that two people could be so compatible. I suspected that two people could love as deeply as we do. But I had no idea such a thing could be sustainable.

Mostly I thought that way because I didn't know how to do it. People tell you that relationships take work, but I didn't know how to work at it. That's probably because the work you end up doing isn't the same for every relationship. I guess if it was then you could take a class and study and do your homework and graduate and live happily ever after.

Silly.

I'll always be amazed out how the last three years have unfolded for Pam and I. We live in our own romantic play. We let "real life" intrude when it bangs on the door a bit too loudly. But then we get to retreat into our fairy tale, where we dance through the days and nights of our life together.

  1. Travis, what a beautiful description of your relationship with Pam. Will you please bottle and market whatever it is that creates such a loving atmosphere?

  1. You did such a nice job on that post, Travis! Thanks for your comments on my post! You and Pam are so lucky! :)

Smiling... I know of no one more deserving, bro. And of no love story more inspiring.

  1. Sounds like you two are doing it just right!

  1. Such a beautiful expression of your lives together. I suspect that it is the quality of the people involved that make the magic.

  1. Julie says:

I'm so happy for you. Beautiful..just beautiful.

  1. You know Trav...you said it best...It clicked with me that Nancy and I don't work at it either...we just ARE.

And that is the best relationship you can have.

  1. Marsha says:

I agree with Bond. Hubby and are just 'ARE', no work really and I don't think you can work hard at just 'being'. Cool, and well said on your part!

  1. SLM: If I could figure it out, I'd bottle it and share it.

Mary: I still think I'm luckier than Pam.

Ann: I don't know about inspiring.

    Charles: Seems so, doesn't it?

    Jamie: Perhaps.

    Julie: Hugs!

V: Sometimes I guess it just is.

Marsha: Maybe the work is accepting.
