Lakers 1, Celtics 0

I guess I'll have to say that the toughness factor goes to my Lakers in game 1 of the NBA Finals.  Kobe Bryant had 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists to lead LA to a 102-89 win.  Pau Gasol added 23 points.


But the toughness factor was led by Gasol's 14 rebounds, 8 of which came on the offensive glass.  The Lakers out-rebounded Boston 42-31 and dominated the paint 48-30.


Many experts figured Boston would have the edge defensively, but the Lakers' defense was even stingier, holding the Celtics to only 43% shooting on the night and only 1 of 10 from the 3-point line.  LA refused to be pushed around like in 2008, and seemed to get to the rim whenever they decided to drive the lane.


I don't know what's going to happen in the rest of this series, but I like the way it started.


Game 2 is on Sunday from LA and I think it's critical that my Lakers head to Boston with a 2-0 lead because the Celtics will host games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary).  When you lose home court in the finals, you can really put yourself in a tough situation.

    Here's what I think.
    Neither team is going to lose at home in the finals this year.
    The Lakers will win game 2, by a wide margin. Then just as everyone thinks the Lakers are going to make short work of the Celtics, Boston will win 3 in a row at home, thanks to the big 3,a and some rowdy Boston fans. However, the Lakers will then win the next two, including game 7 in Los Angeles!
