Welcome to Set 24.  Wow.  I've been at this for 6 months now.

YAY me!

I think an excellent way to celebrate is by sharing some of my favorites from one of my favorites.

Thanks to all who continue to participate.

And you get a double bonus because Playlist.com didn't have my two absolute favorite Dusty vocal performances.

"But if you stay I'll make you a night
Like no night has been or will be again
I'll sail on your smile
I'll ride on your touch
I'll talk to your eyes
That I love so much"

What a lyric.  The song If You Go Away is based upon the song Ne Me Quitte Pas written by Jacques Brel in 1959.  Rod McKuen composed the English lyric.  It is a classic and a standard and has been covered by many of the world's finest vocalists.

As always, if you'd like to join us in the musical fun, the guidelines are basic and simple.

1. Grab the banner, make your post title Five on Friday, and be sure to link back here.
2. Go to Playlist.com to make your play list of five songs. You may choose a particular theme to share with us, or post random tunes if that's your vibe for the day. You can simply post the play list, or you can add a little summary about what you are sharing.
2a. Don't feel restricted by the tracks listed on Playlist.com. And don't be discouraged if the Embed code won't work. You're welcome to use any type of media to share your Sets.
3. Be sure to sign Mr Linky so everyone can visit your Set.
4. No tags, but feel free to invite your friends to play along if they need a post topic on a Friday.

Go forth and enjoy music!

I didn't follow all of the rules, but I did put together a playlist this week...and there's a little surprise too.
Love the Dusty Springfield set. I think we share the same favorite Dusty Spring field song. Have a wonderful week-end.

  1. That Jacques Brel/Rod McKuen song is incredibly passionate. I love the lyrics you've highlighted.

Great choices Trav. I remember Dusty Springfield when she was with The Springfields!

  1. YAY Dusty!!! I almost did a 15 song set, because I could not decide...but restrained myself!

    SUMMERTIME!

  1. Oh I remember Dusty. I've wailed those tunes more than once!

  1. Ne Me Quitte Pas is one of my all time favorite songs and I do enjoy the Rod McKuen lyric even though it is a subtle change from the Jaques Brel original meaning. Anyone who hasn't heard the soundtrack for Jaques Brel is Alive and Well and Living In New YOrk, should go hunting. Amanda McBroom's album Chasson has several of the songs as she was in the original show and has recorded these beautiful songs.
