The premier was the highest rated program in the history of TV Land, with an estimated 4.8 million viewers.
YES!
And, he said the show has been picked up for a second season!
YES!
Pam and I love the program. The dialog has a rhythm and a cadence you don't often get with most network sitcoms. It isn't about getting through the joke to the punchline and the canned laughter.
Valerie Bertinelli, Wendy Malick, Jane Leeves, and Betty White all have superb comedic timing. Nothing they do or say seems forced. Some of the interplay between them feels like it's right off the cuff...things friends say to each other every day. When you have a cast with that kind of ability, you write scenes for them...not jokes.
I'll admit that I started watching the program because of my crush on Valerie. But now it's more than that. Pam loves it because it's not a weekly joke about women dealing with getting older. It's about strong female characters living their lives and discovering they are in charge of their desires, and nothing is out of reach simply because every day they live is on the far side of 40.
I like the show because I live with a strong woman who never let anyone tell her she can't have or do something simply because she's female. I was raised by women like that. And I like seeing them on TV.
If you know and love women like that, or if you are a woman like that, do yourself a favor and find Hot in Cleveland on TV Land, every Wednesday at 10pm.
I LOVE this show! I had no doubt they'd pick it up for another season!
