Five on Friday Set 31

There's always been something about the sound of The Mamas and the Papas for me.  The harmonies sound perfect to my untrained ear.

Mama Cass Elliot (1941-1974) was taken much too young, dead from a heart attack at 32.  John Phillips (1935-2001) died of heart failure only days after finishing a new album called Phillips 66.  Denny Doherty (1940-2007) died from an abdominal aneurysm.

Michelle Phillips is the last surviving member of the group.

So Set 31...The Mamas and the Papas.

  1. Hey - what's my sister's name doing on your blog? LOL! My sister's name is Michelle Phillips. But only for a few more weeks - she's getting married. And she sings, too.

Lovely set, Travis - I especially love Words of Love, Dream a Little Dream and I Saw Her Again. I think my favorite Mamas & Papas song is Dream a Little Dream.

  1. Love, love, love The Mamas and Papas. My absolute favorite is California Dreaming which you didn't grab with Creeque Alley as number two. Excellent choice for this Friday.

Who could possibly NOT love the harmonies of The Mamas and The Papas? Believe it or not, Amanda really likes "Dream A Little Dream of Me" but that's because she relates it to Repo-Men. My favorite is the same as Jamie's but I thoroughly enjoyed all of your choices for this week!

  1. Always been a big fan of the Mamas and Papas. A great choice.
