On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away

It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting its shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
Mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away

On the Turning Away

I love this Trav. I have to say there was a time in my life I was one of those who "rightously"turned away and turned a blind eye.

    Not anymore, not never again!

I cannot beleive we are talking about November, but it is just around the corner isn't it? I will do my best to participate in the peace globe event. It is the only blog event I have ever participated in!

    Blessings,
    Debra

Most definitely some very good, very powerful words there, Trav.

As the saying goes, "The pen is mightier than the sword" and that can also apply across the board to speech too, can't it?

Anyway one looks at it, we all need to take a much closer look at our words and our actions to see where they match and where they are still perhaps miles apart too.

Thanks for a great reminder today!

  1. I love "on the wings of night"

  1. Excellent choice of songs for the basis of this post Sir...

  1. Beautifully done Travis. I'm truly looking forward to Blog Blast this year. Somehow we have to make a difference.

  1. Love the song and lyrics... must get started on the blog blast for peace post early this year....

  1. Isn't that song absolutely brilliant, even if it WAS written post-Waters (or maybe because of it?)
