Cue that theme music...

It's results live from Hollywood!

But first let's have some encores.  What did we like from Monday's performances?

We liked the Samba from Jennifer and Derek.  Anyone concerned that this is easy for her because of her dance background, and the fact that her father is Joel Grey, should be encouraged by the mis-steps during the routine.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

We enjoyed the Samba from Rick and Cheryl.  He's dancing to every inch of his 6'7" height, but he doesn't seem out of proportion with Cheryl at all.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

We loved the Waltz from Kyle and Lacey.  Kyle demonstrated that he can slow down and control his energy.  The next step is to improve his footwork.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

Dance of the night goes to Audrina and Tony for their Waltz.  This dance simply had everything.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

Here's a reminder of our story night leader board:

26 Audrina and Tony
24 Jennifer and Derek
24 Rick and Cheryl
24 Brandy and Maks
23 Kyle and Lacey
23 Kurt and Anna
20 Florence and Corky
20 Mike and Karina
19 Bristol and Mark
18 Margaret and Louis

Oh for Pete's sake.  The judges selected the ridiculous Foxtrot from Mike and Karina as the encore.  Ack.

Results...Audrina and Tony are safe.  Kurt and Anna are safe.

Ne-Yo is in the ballroom with his own dancers.  I actually like this performance.  It was almost like a live video.

Did you hear it?  That was Pam's squee because Donny Osmond did a little video "man on the street" deal from Vegas.  She startled Mr Tucker!

More results...Jennifer and Derek are safe.  Brandy and Maks are safe.

The direction is a bit wonky.  They've got the wrong clips cued up for each result segment.  And then they confused Rick and Cheryl while announcing who is safe and who has to wait to find out.

Now we have a unique competition between Mark Ballas and Valentin Chmerkovskiy that combines musicianship and dancing, with Mark on acoustic guitar and Val on violin.  And then they danced, Val with Lacey and Mark with a gal I didn't recognize.  Then they both went back to the strings, Val on his violin and Mark on an electric guitar this time.  I would have preferred they keep dancing.

Michael Bolton gets to return to do what he does best...sing.  I hope my pal Goodnight Gram managed to stay awake for it!  He sang Halleluja backed by a boy's choir, accompanied by Jonathan Roberts and Anna Tebunskaya.  A waltz danced by Jonathan and Anna is a sublime thing.  That was really beautiful.

More results...Mike and Karina are safe.  Florence and Corky are safe.  Kyle and Lacey are safe.  Rick and Cheryl are safe.  Bristol and Mark are safe.

So that means Margaret and Louis are out.

Dances next week are Rumba and Argentine Tango, with a twist...acoustic dancing in the round.  I have no idea what that means, so we'll just have to tune in!

    Rick *Phew*

    Loved both waltzes choreography, stunning!

  1. I thought that was the WORST foxtrot music ever. I told my wife that the person that chose that music should be fired! I didn't like it during the competition and I fast forwarded through it on results night. I was just awful.
"The Situation" can go home anytime now.

Great roundup Trav and I love the Peace Quote.

  1. Jaye: Pam had a similar reaction to Rick's Samba.

    Driller: I'm with ya.

    Akelamalu: Thanks!

  1. Brandy was unusually strong. She really seems to respond to the "I'm the boss" treatment even if it bothers some of us out here. Still in the Jennifer camp but I have to give kudos to all the top four pairs.

  1. I missed some of the show switching back and forth. I love Jennifer Gray. She is awesome.

In the beginning,I thought Brandy would be the winner until I saw Jennifer dance.

Love the peace quote and thank you for the udates.

  1. is it me or does some of the judging seem to be personal?

What I've seen of the show has been pretty good...but I am ALWAYS glad to be able to come over here and read up on the whole show.

  1. BTW, I do follow your posts. I just don't usually comment on the dancing ones because I don't watch the show.

Travis: I DID stay awake for my 'crush'. He did a fine job, In fact, I wouldn't have been able to hear Pam squealing because of my swooning! I love that song, Hallelujah. The first time I heard it was at the close of a West Wing episode. Anyway, I think I stayed awake for the whole show last night.

  1. I was shocked they picked that as the dance of the night...silly indeed.

The booth should be slapped on the wrist for the mix-ups with the packages and that "The next couple in jeopardy..." is stupid. Who is safe? then whomever is left is in jeopardy.

Shocked SHOCKED that Margaret went before Mike...and I agree with Driller..who thought that was waltz music??? SHEESH!

  1. Brandy: I did think Brandy and Maks danced very well, but I didn't think they told their story as well as some of the other pairs, which was part of the exercise.

Pam: I still think it's anybody's game. In the end it usually comes down to fanbase.

Kat: It's not you. I've noticed the trend over the last couple of seasons, particularly with Bruno. Not sure what that's about.

Charles: No worries. I know these posts aren't for everyone.

GGG: YAY! I'm glad you got to see.

V: Well, I don't think Cho brought as many fans to the show to begin. And then she and Louis didn't do themselves any favors with that first dance. Of all the "lesser" dancers, I thought she had the most potential.

  1. I wasn't thrilled with the two who were outed so I'm fine with that.

And who is going to argue with the Dalai Lama? Certainly not I.
