Edit:  I originally posted this as Reason 79, but I accidentally skipped Reason 80.  That ooops has been corrected.

We now return to regularly scheduled hiatus blogging.

Reason 80:  Yes We Can Can, written by Allen Toussaint, as released by The Pointer Sisters in 1973.

Now's the time for all good men
to get together with one another.
We got to iron out our problems
and iron out our quarrels
and try to live as brothers.
And try to find a piece of land
without stepping on one another.
And do respect the women of the world.
Remember you all have mothers.
We got to make this land a better land
than the world in which we live.
And we got to help each man be a better man
with the kindness that we give.
I know we can make it.
I know darn well we can work it out.
Oh yes we can, I know we can can
Yes we can can, why can't we?
If we wanna get together we can work it out.

And we gotta take care of all the children,
the little children of the world.
'cause they're our strongest hope for the future,
the little bitty boys and girls.

We got to make this land a better land
than the world in which we live.
And we got to help each man be a better man
with the kindness that we give.
I know we can make it.
I know darn well we can work it out.
Oh yes we can, I know we can can
yes we can can, why can't we?
If we wanna, yes we can can.

Thanks for the great post, Trav. Good words to try to achieve that goal. Good thing you posted the words too because when I opened the video, guess what? No sound! Anytime now that someone posts a video on their blog or on Facebook -if it is on YouTube -I get no audio! Any clue as to what would cause that? I can play other YouTube stuff if I go to their site and click it open but if it shows up on my Reader or on Facebook, I can't get any sound. Frustrating because I have nary a clue as to where to look much less how to fix stuff like that!

  1. I have been bad about this, I will do my globe, but I can hardly write something intelligent now!
