Peace in Review

Posted: Monday, November 07, 2011 by Travis Cody in

Friday was another amazing Blog Blast Day, the 8th since Mimi was inspired by her Papa's blue marble back in 2006.

I always find the run up in the weeks prior to Blog Blast Day to be full of excitement and inspiration.  Then we get to Peace Week and the magic of Dona Nobis Pacem takes over.  Beautiful Peace Globes suddenly seem to design themselves.  Peace posts seem to write themselves.

It really is fascinating.  We spoke with one voice on one subject for one day.  These are some of the posts that really stood out to me.

Crow's Feet - Michele reminds us that every small thing we do to advance the cause of Peace in the world is important.  You might also check out her Peace Thimbles.

This Eclectic Life - Shelly brings us a unique perspective on bias and how to recognize it in yourself.

House of Lime - Michelle tells a moving story of meeting an electrical engineer from Turkey turned artist so his children can have a better life.

Louie's Chaos - Louie reminds us about the importance of love and respect.

The Matriarch's Corner - I got past the spider on Kathy's blog and I'm glad I did because she has a profound statement to make about peace.  I can even respect the writing spider, as long as I don't have to actually have a real one nearby.

The World's Most Stunning Cat - Here we are introduced to The Priority Boxes Art Series or Peace Box Project, established by Frank de las Mercedes, an artist from Nicaragua.

My Political, Philosophical, and Musical Ramblings - Richard Bell has written an excellent essay on inner peace, and how a movement such as Blog Blast can have a most powerful effect on the world.

A Chat with Jennie Marsland - Jennie shares a profound observance about peace and how we can achieve it.

Foxxfyrre's Honk'nHoll'r - Head over to FoxxFyrre's place for an extraordinary poem about a path to take toward peace.

Thanks to all who heeded Mimi's call.  We'll do it again, same time next year.  But remember, between now and then, we don't just do Peace on one day.  Peace should be in our hearts and in our actions always.
