Heard a song on the radio when I was getting breakfast at the deli in our office building this morning (Edit: that would be yesterday morning, on Thursday) and it took me to 1968.  That got me thinking that I should have done a Set last month in honor of my sister, who was born in December 1968.

Presenting Set 102...dedicated to my Lil Sis.

Hurdy Gurdy Man, written and performed by Donovan

Cry Like A Baby, written by Dan Penn/Spooner Oldham, as performed by The Box Tops

Grazing in the Grass, original instrumental written by Philemon Hou, vocal version written by Harry Elston of The Friends of Distinction, as performed by The Friends of Distinction

Elenore, written by Howard Kaylan/Mark Volman/Al Nichol/Jim Pons/John Barbata, as released by The Turtles

I've used this song before, but it's one of my favorites so I'm using it again.  Turn Around Look at Me, written by Jerry Capehart, as released by The Vogues

  1. I'll be back to listen to the tunes this evening when I get home from work. But I already like your birthday tribute to your sister!

  1. Oh these were wonderful. Took me right back to a great time when my children were really small and the radio was on constantly. Thank you.

Hmmmm ... I thought I posted earlier. But shortly after that, my account got tagged for "abnormal" activity. Maybe I got blocked in the interim before I got stuff straightened out.

Anyways, lovely set. 1968 was the year of my birth too. :)

  1. ALL of them were fabulous picks, Travis, especially Grazing in the Grass!

Brad was especially partial to the Donovan one.
