Cue that theme music!

It's encores and results!

This is the way it should be.  Performances on one night, results the next.

And encores, of course!  So what did we like from Monday's performances?  Well I'll tell you!  We liked a lot, but I'll try to keep it to what we thought were the best of the best.

We really enjoyed the youthful energy of the Foxtrot from Shawn and Derek.  The dance starts at about 1:02.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

We liked the speed and control in the Cha Cha Cha from Sabrina and Louis.  The dance starts at about 1:04.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

Of course we loved the class and sophistication of the Foxtrot from Gilles and Peta.  The dance starts at about 1:04.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

By far the dance of the night belongs to the Cha Cha Cha from Emmitt and Cheryl, who seem to have picked up right where they left off after winning Season 3.  The dance starts at about 0:54.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

There was a lot more to enjoy, but I think that's enough to be going on with.

Here's a reminder of our leader board after Monday's performances:

24.5 Emmitt and Cheryl
24.0 Gilles and Peta
22.5 Sabrina and Louis
22.0 Shawn and Derek
22.0 Apolo and Karina
21.5 Kelly and Val
21.5 Drew and Anna
21.5 Helio and Chelsie
21.0 Melissa and Tony
20.5 Joey and Kym
19.5 Bristol and Mark
19.0 Kirstie and Maks
17.0 Pamela and Tristan

Yeah, I decided to give you the links to the rest of the dances.  There was some really good stuff.

There's an awful lot of chatter in the first hour.  We're getting to hear why the stars decided to come back and dance again.  I can sum it up for all 13 celebrities...they missed it, it's challenging, and it's fun.

Now we can get down to business.

Judges select the Cha Cha Cha from Emmitt and Cheryl as the encore.  But of course!

You know one of the reasons I love this show is because I get to see fantastic dancing from our pros and our Dance Troupe.  And this was a good one to lead off the second hour of the results show.  Jason Gilkison choreographed that number.

First results...Shawn and Derek are safe.  Apolo and Karina are safe.  Joey and Kym are safe.

So Pit Bull is in the ballroom.  I don't like this kind of music.  It has it's place, but not for me.

More results...Helio and Chelsie are safe.  Kelly and Val are safe.

Ahh...more Dance Troupe, looking great with a bit of Jive, Lindy Hop, and Jitterbug all mixed together.  Jason Gilkison choreographed that one too.  The Dance Troupe is Henry Byalikov, Sasha Farber, Sharna Burgess, Emma Slater, Oksana Dmytrenko, and Sonny Pedersen.

More results...Emmitt and Cheryl are safe.  Gilles and Peta are safe.  Sabrina and Louis are safe.

Now Justin Beiber is in the ballroom.  I guess the producers couldn't have found two musical performers that interested me any less.  Oh well.  There's always next week!

Final results...Kirstie and Maks are safe.  Melissa and Tony are safe.  Bristol and Mark are safe.  Drew and Anna are safe.

That means Pamela and Tristan are eliminated.

I feel badly that she didn't dance as well as she wanted to.  Maybe it would have been different if she had gotten to start with Foxtrot.  But the reality is that she's out of her league when stacked up against so many former champions and finalists.

There you have it.  Week 1 of 10 is over and it's on to week 2!

Later gang!

Well, she's got nothing to be ashamed about... I wouldn't make it through the first 15 minutes of practice! :)

Try as I might, I could not keep my eyes open until the end of the show. We get up too early. But, I did see most of it. Thanks for the info. GGG

Can't say that I was surprised by the elimination......not sure she understood just who the competition was....she was way out of her league....and I don't think she really took it all that serious. From Monday's performance, it looked like she thought that 'posing' would get her by.....lol....just sayin'

We are about to kick off this season - can't wait. OK I CAN wait but I am very much looking forward to the start.

I think that Pam was chosen as the sacrificial dancer for the first week elimination. Everyone else was so much better (even those that didn't do particularly well). Not really fair to Pam. From here on out it's going to be murder every week!
