There was really  no other choice I could make for Set 141 this week.  I grew up listening to Andy Williams.  His voice always felt like home to me.

Can't Get Used to Losing You, written by Jerome Pomus/Mort Shuman, as released in 1963

Moon River, music by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Johnny Mercer, as released in 1961

Dang.  That last one got me choked up.  Rest well, Mr Williams.

I saw this on Facebook yesterday. Andy was almost exactly one year older than my Dad. I loved Andy! I grew up listening to him and watching him on TV. Dang it. Now I may have to go to iTunes to download some of my favorites.

    Have a lovely weekend, Trav!

  1. Only got to see him perform live once in Vegas back in the late 60s. He was a consumate entertainer. This week is a birthday present for my daughter.

  1. I thought he was a talented fellow and hated to hear of his death. Not my musical cup of tea, of course. But seemed like a good entertaining guy

I still remember watching The Andy Williams Show when I was a kid and thinking that there just weren't enough o's in 'smooth' to describe his style. I don't think that anyone else could ever sing "Moon River" like he did!
