It's encores and results!

In just one week, someone will hoist this Glittering Globe of Glory as champion of All Star Season 15.

Well, maybe not this exact trophy.  I understand our standard Fabulous Mirror Ball has been gussied up to an appropriate level for presentation to our All Star champs.  A Fru Fru Fabulous Mirror Ball?

Hehehe.

There was an awful lot to like about Monday's performances.  Here's some of the good stuff.

Our Troupe was terrific leading off the show.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

We liked the Rumba from Kelly and Val.  I think Kelly has made the most improvement of the celebrities this season.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

We liked this Argentine Tango from Melissa and Tony.  As you watch these amazing lifts and tricks, keep in mind that Tony has a back injury.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

Apolo and Karina had a wonderful moment with their Rumba after what I thought was a bit of a disaster in their Big Top Jazz routine.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

Our favorite routine of the night was the Night Rider Bhangra from Shawn and Derek.  Energy?  They has it.  The dance starts at about 1:49.  Click here if the video doesn't play.

That's some great stuff.

Here's a reminder of our leader board after Monday's two dances:

59.0 Shawn and Derek
57.5 Melissa and Tony
57.0 Apolo and Karina
54.0 Emmitt and Cheryl
54.0 Kelly and Val

It's a good group.  I'd like to see S&D and M&T in the finale for sure.  Any of the other three pairs would round things out nicely for me.  Although we're voting for S&D, we'd sure like to see Tony get a mirror ball.

The judges select the Rumba from Apolo and Karina as the encore.

First results...Shawn and Derek are in the finale!

AT&T Spotlight features Parris Goebel from New Zealand, who taught herself to dance hip hop.  She parlayed that into her own studio, her own dance crew, and a career as a top choreographer...all at the age of 21.  Nice.

The Wanted is in the ballroom.  Meh.

More results...Melissa and Tony are in the finale!

But that means Apolo and Karina are eliminated.

I thought he had his best performance with the Rumba Monday night.  But only three get through to next week.

Paula Abdul is back in the ballroom, this time on the floor to perform in our final Macy's Stars of Dance.  You know, as wacky as she could be as a judge on American Idol, I've always enjoyed her as a performer.  That was really cool.  She reinvented four of her iconic videos.

Derek is featured in a pro dance project.  He also worked on the music.  What a talented young man.  That routine also included Melanie Moore, Kathryn McCormick, Allison Holker, and Jessica Lee Keller.  The only word is wow.

Final results...Kelly and Val are in the finale!

That means Emmitt and Cheryl are eliminated.

Technique over charm.  If the show were only about charisma and cool, Emmitt would win every time.

Hey!  It's the last three gals standing!  Next Monday's performance finale will be Lady's Night.  Our winner will be Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft, or Kelly Monaco.

Next week's finale features a favorite dance from each of our Top 3, a super sized free style, and an instant dance with music selected on performance night.

Later gang!

I'm guessing that Shawn will win this year. Derek is an amazing choreographer, and Olympians do very well on this show. I think Shawn has a larger fan base than the other two.
I really like Melissa and Tony though. While Val has proven to me that he is a better choreographer than his brother Max, Kelly is just a drama queen. She's a good dancer, but the other two girls are simply better.

  1. Rooting for Melissa and Tony. They really have chemistry and art. Shawn just doesn't do it for me. Never even considered Kelly.

Happy Thanksgiving Pam and Travis! I finally caught up with this week's DWTS! I was so happy to see Melanie of SYTYCD fame on DWTS! I thought right away that it was her but hadn't heard her name until the very end. So when I watch DWTS i have your dancing thoughts up and I read them right along as I'm watching the show. I like it that way!
