Sleep dancing?

Steven from Get Your Blog On tagged me for the sleep meme. But first...

Jesse and Pasha in the bottom three???? No freakin' way! We may just need to give the dialing fingers a work out next week.

It makes more sense that Shauna & Jimmy and Faina & Cedric are in the bottom three.

Shauna really saved herself with her solo. Jesse made it hard on herself and I did not like Faina's solo at all. Judges decide to send Faina home and save Jesse. I think that's the right decision.

Judges are critical of Pasha's solo but save him. Judges save Cedric and send Jimmy home. That's really wrong. Cedric is an amazingly talented hip hop dancer, but that's all he does. He doesn't have the talent to improve quickly in different styles, which is what it takes to continue to do well in this show. Jimmy is the kind of dancer who would benefit most from advancing in the competition. This is an unfortunate decision, based on potential.

Now, for a sleep meme! My task is to list six odd things I do when getting ready for sleep.

1. I have to check email and make sure my cell phone and Ipod are plugged in and charging before I get ready for bed.

2. It's supposed to be a bad thing to exercise before sleep, but I have to do sit ups and push ups. I usually try to do them an hour or so before I get in bed, and I do at least 100 of each, about every other night.

3. Pam and I keep different hours. I get to work at 7am, and she usually doesn't go in until neary 10. She also works late, and does a lot of stuff from home. I'm usually moving toward the bed around 10:30pm. She'll bring her book, we'll put the TV on, and I like to curl around her while she's reading. This is also a good position from which to distract her...if you get my meaning!

4. I can't lay flat on my back, and I can't have my legs stretched out flat. I have extra pillows so I can be propped up, with a body pillow that I drape my legs over.

5. I don't sleep straight through. It's more like a series of naps. Every time I wake up, I switch from my back to my left side or from my left side to my back. I can't sleep on my right side because of shoulder/lower back/hip/knee pain. When I'm laying on my side, I need to have a pillow or something between my knees to keep my back straight. But I still wake up with pain most mornings.

6. I sleep in my Jockey boxer briefs. But I have to keep a pair of sweats and a T-shirt, and my mocs, within a step or two of the bed - in the same spot every night - just in case there's an emergency. All you have to do to understand this requirement is imagine yourself standing outside in the middle of the night in your underwear and bare feet while cops and firemen and looky-loos deal with your household disaster.

Not too odd, right? Right?

Whom to tag? Let's see...how about Julie!

I must say I find the 'curl around her while she reads' just mmmmyummy.

And 6--excellent plan--I love sleeping naked but whethere fully in the buff or only half clothed I always keep clothes next to the bed. I was rousted out of bed one night during an apartment building fire. That scramble to get clothes on taught me a lesson.

Sorry you don't/can't sleep all the way through sugar.

    Smooch

  1. Lisa Ryan says:

100 situps and pushups? you are committed and I am impressed.
    Have a great weekend.

  1. Julie says:

Oh you brat! Why me....and ONLY me?

**adds to list of tags but thinks she'll tackle this one first**

Very interesting "oddities" my friend. I can't imagine not feeling utter comfort while fading into the night. How sad.

Yup "dance" was good but I think they messed up too.

    **hugs my sweet**

  1. welllll, you MIGHT be a LITTLE odd! ha ha, just kidding... the pillow between the knees is good as it keeps your spine straight and that is good. what time do you eat your cake?

    smiles, bee

  1. Danielle says:

I get an old Ernie song "Dance myself to sleep" performed with sheep to the ever present dismay of Bert. Sesame Street stays with me.

    As always Trav...

  1. Yeah...I've often thought about the whole "disaster" thing too when I'm sleeping in the buff. But to get to my door you have to pass my closet, and to be honest, there is always something on the floor.

I would look mighty funny, but at least I'd be covered!

  1. it seems to me that if you are doing 100 situps and pushups everyday...you ought to be proud to stand outside in just your underwear....laughing....

  1. I'm with you on the clothes by the bed in the same spot every night... but not on the boxer briefs - too constraining for the boys. They like their evening freedom...

    :)

  1. Schmoop says:

I dont know what I do because I am typically drunk out of my mind. Cheers Trav!!

  1. Thank you for not tagging me.

And by the way, just surrender to the paisley, Trav. It's inevitable.

  1. Sandee says:

I know about the curl around thing too. My hubby has that one down to a fine science. Great answers, but sorry you can't sleep straight through. I hate the waking up during the night. Just hate it. Have a great weekend. :)

  1. Turn: Well, curling around her like that often leads to sleeping in the buff, so it's quite nice! Heehee!

Lisa: Committed as in "needs to be committed cause he's insane"? LOL!

Julie: I honor you with this special tag because...well...I dunno!

Bee: The pillow helps. We have CAKE earlier in the evening, but sometimes it's a nice snack when I can't sleep.

Danielle: I think I remember that song now!

Mags: And that's the important thing, right?? LOL.

Katherine: **blush** Well, wearing a shirt does make it easier on the skin when trying to control a frightened kitty.

Mo: True, but I kind of like the snug secure feeling too.

Matt: Why am I not surprised?

Mimi: You might just have a point. When we bought curtains last weekend, I wanted the chocolate brown ones but I was vetoed in favor of the lighter colored khaki. I do agree that they go better with the brown in the sofa and the tan of the pillows. Yikes! There IS a subtle plan of debachelorization going on here!!!!

    great dance clip.
sorry I haven't been around much I spend a lot of time out of Athens in summer but I'll be back as a regular in the autumn.

naked is a good thing to be even when your awake, comfortable I never sleep for more than 4 hours so I spend a lot of time wondering round in the buff in the middle of the night, lol.

I also have probs with pain in my back and knees, we are getting old my friend.

  1. Comedy: I'm kind of used to it by now...it's been like this for a very long time.

Cathy: Awww man! Old? Really? Me? Wow - summer in Athens. Sounds wonderful.

  1. Meribah says:

Nuttin odd about the sleep positions and pillow support, especially if you suffer from back/joint pain. And keeping clothes close by in case of emergency makes sense to me. As for the email checking and stuff...well, I do that too, so it can't be all that strange! LOL

  1. Anonymous says:

dosn't sound to odd to me... my hubs calls me the Pillow Queen teee hee cause i have so many pillows. I have to sleep just so to keep the pain away.

  1. I'm thinking there's a story behind that last one, Trav...'fess up!

  1. cathy says:

I live in Athens. In summer I leave to get away from the heat which is 109F at the moment.
Not old but those creaky achy bones are a sure sign of advancing crumbliness, well mine are anyway.

  1. Barb says:

That looks like a fun meme!!!
