Mo's Manic Monday - Faith

Welcome to another Manic Monday with Morgen. Today's theme is Faith. Don't forget to cruise by MM HQ at It's A Blog Eat Blog World.

As a son, I learned to have faith in my mom. As a brother, I learned to have faith in my sister. As an athlete, I learned to have faith in my teammates. As a student, I learned to have faith in my teachers.

The knowledge that someone is there to catch you when you fall, to guide you when you lose your way, to help you when you stumble...it gives you confidence to take steps and make decisions.

I think that shaken faith disturbs the journey of the mind and soul. So when my father broke faith with me, it took a long time to understand that it was his flaw and not mine.

So as a man, I have learned to have faith in myself and to take responsibility for who I am and what I've done. And I have faith in the love that I share with Pam. The road we are on together is full of joys, both large and small.

FAITH
by Travis Cody

Belief my suit of armor
With joy in self greet the day

Hope my shield of honor
My eyes to lead the way

Peace my sword of might
To battle in a sea of night

Truth my shining banner
With knowledge as the word of light

Each to each promise offered
Trusting e'er in choice of right

The breath of my voice sung on high
Faith in I alone shall be my guide

I'm far from perfect. But I think that having faith in the path I'm on helps me to grow every day.

Couplets are hard to write, because it's tough to say so much in so few words. But you did an admirable job.

Thanks for stopping by my blog Travis.

It's impossible to not have faith in something, isn't it? I guess there's a fine line between having faith in too little and too much.

Both your prose and poem are beautiful Travis. Don't ever allow the bumps in the road to steal that soft side...

  1. Journeys are so much easier when you can hold hands.

Good for you and Pam, Trav. If we didn't have faith in something or believe in something every day, we'd be totally lost.
