Random observations

Watching football on a 42" Plasma High Definition television is splendiferous! I know that's not a real word, but it's the best word to describe how excellent the game looks.

My Sunday coffee is very tasty with fresh bagels and cream cheese.

I like the new ticker line scrolling at the bottom of the screen for CBS games. Not only does it show the scores of games in progress, but it's got possession and field position indicators with down and distance too. I prefer the ticker at the bottom of the screen. Fox puts it at the top, which is too distracting.

I detest the stupid leap into the stands that originated in Green Bay and has made it's way to every statium with field level fences low enough to jump into.

I should read more of the instructions for my TV to see if I can get the picture-in-picture function to work.

Woooooooooooooooooooo!! I love the Reebock commercial with the hot women football fans!!

Have you seen this new Domino's Oreo Pizza thingy?? I'm an Oreo cookie fiend, but this just looks GACK to me.

Donovan McNabb looks like he's running on glass. I'll be surprised if he can stay healthy and be effective over 16 games.

It's a very good thing we went with the larger sofa in the living room. It's perfect for me and Pam, and three snuggly kitties watching the games! This is a bit of a surprise though, because Mr Bailey isn't generally a snuggler and Mr Newby likes to nap under the bed. But we'll take it.

Scary thing with Kevin Everret of Buffalo. On a tackle during a kick return, he made the tackle but lowered his head and made the hit with his helmet instead of his shoulder. He went limp immediately and crumpled to the ground. They spent considerable time treating him and getting him in an ambulance. He never moved. Sometimes a player will raise his hand to the crowd, and he never did. I hope that's not indicative of a serious spinal cord injury. Best wishes to the young man, a second year tight end out of Miami.

Regardless of whether he missed 2 field goal attempts today, I'd still take Jason Elam in a scramble drill with only seconds on the clock to kick the game winner.

Well, those are my thoughts after the morning games. They're rockin' and rollin' across Lake Washington as they raise the silly...I mean as they raise the sacred 12th man flag. Gotta run and support my Lady's team.

Later babies.

My comment just disappeared. I saaaiiidd..Sounds like a perfect Sunday. Have fun with the snuggly ones on the new couch.

P.S. Please send coffee. My coffee maker broke this morning. ARrghhh...The hurricane is hitting the coast (not near me) but we will have have weird weather and it's coffee drinking time and I'm in a tizzy because I can't have coffee and if I can't have coffee I get in a bad mood and write run-on sentences. See?

    Going to Walmart!

  1. Trav, I'll have to put you on my links to get sports updates. I get a view of the games that's a bit different from the "pronouncers." Yeah, the oreo pizza looks pretty bad to me.

  1. we haven't had a decent bagel since we've been in podunk! south florida has some danged good ones though and we'll be back there soon...

    smiles, bee

What did you say about football? Who are those people? Can you tell I don't watch football. I'm glad you are having a wonderful afternoon watching football. That new TV sounds great too. Must have been half-time when you posted this? Have a good one Travis.

  1. That Buffalo game was something else. My heart stopped Everret went down, especially when I saw him twitching. I think he didn't give a thumbs up because they had his arms strapped down. They aren't taking any chances with the players, which is a good thing. The end of that game was unbelievable. Elam in the clutch after missing two? And with just seconds? No penalties for illegal motion or too many/too few men on the field? Amazing.

  1. Mimi: Easy girl. Make sure you stock up on that coffee. We can't have you writing run-on sentences all over the bloggosphere.

Charles: It won't be long before we're watching without the sound.

Bee: Do you like how I made sure to have some non-sports things in my sports Sunday post??

Sandee: But I'll bet you continue to get a lot done with your weekends by avoiding football.

Songbird: I heard that Everret was going to have surgery, and that it was a pretty serious cervical injury. You're right about that ending...they pulled it off just like a drill. But right now I think Cutler is a lucky idiot at QB. He's going to have to prove he's a real player.

Don't you love Sundays? I'm currently watching the Giants/Cowboys game...I love the fall and football season.

  1. Julie: Egads is right! It's been awhile since I let the random thoughts out to play.

Steven: I love Sundays at this time of year.

You sound like a happy man!

  1. I was in San Francisco this weekend helping my daughter and her beau pack.... until 1:00 today...when all activilty came to a halt.

Apparently my daughter is in love with a Raider Fan....hmmmmm....

My roommate and I got one of those Oreo cookie deals with our pizza tonight. I couldn't bring myself to try it. He had some and said there were marshmallows in it (urp...I like marshmallows right out of the bag, but I hate them all gooey in anything) and that the cookies were COOKED, and burned no less. I refuse to even try it. I don't need to have Oreos pure beauty tainted for me.

The Steelers massacred the Browns tonight and I can't even watch the damn games here in NYC. Aaaaargh. I have to get that NFL ticket or something.

  1. Things don't look good for Kevin Everett. Spinal injury, extensive surgery - they don't know if he'll ever walk again.

    Sad.

I have a 45" plasma hanging on my bedroom wall, BUT, I don't waste all them great pixels on watching football! giggles

I also have a 65" HD TV downstairs which NEVER gets used because I am always upstairs on the pc, or on my bed with my laptop...

    I love electronics...

    I LOVE FOOTBALL!!

I do however giggle at the thought of "morning games". I know i know--it still makes me giggle.

  1. I agree - that new dessert pizza looks horrid! I don't watch much football anymore... used to all the time with my dad when I was younger.

  1. Linda says:

The Oreo Pizza thing ... trust me, it's actually pretty damned good and very, very hazardous to a person's diet and good intentions. I got one from Amanda the last time we ordered from Domino's and YUM!!!

  1. Jay: Yeppers!

Katherine: Trust your daughter. We're people, just like you. LOL!

Beck: What were they thinking with that Oreo thingy?? Sheesh!

Songbird: These guys are so big and so fast...even if you do everything right you can still get hurt.

    Ambre: **drool**

Turn: Wooooooooooooooo for football and woooooooooooooo for morning games!! Heehee!

TJ: The only thing I don't like is the stupid Monday night double header.

    Linda: Really? It's actually good?
