Sunday Game Day

Ooo-RAH for Dixie's boy. Congratulations to Matlock Caffrey, who completed his Crucible yesterday, received his Eagle Globe & Anchor, wolfed down his Warrior's Breakfast, and is now a United States Marine. Semper Fi young man and well done Sir!
OK y'all. I think I caught up with everyone yesterday. I missed a couple days of blog rounds and posting because I was spending extra time with Pam. She was involved in a minor traffic accident last week. She was a passenger in her business partner's car, which was rear ended at a traffic light. She's fine, but she needed some TLC and I was just the man to provide it.
Big upsets yesterday in college football. Both #1 LSU and #2 Cal went down.
As predicted, the Huskies hung in for a half against Arizona State. Then they ran out of gas in the second half. ASU had some big runs in the third quarter to pull away. And now the Sun Devils are the only overall unbeaten team in the Pac 10. Is ASU good enough to challenge in the BCS poll for a shot at the national championship game? If they stay undefeated, then they have to be considered. One thing to understand about this college football season...nothing should be taken for granted and teams need to bring it every Saturday.
Cleveland and Boston played one of those post season games. Tied 6-6 in extra innings and playing deep into the night. Cleveland got a hit by former Sawx Trot Nixon to get the go ahead run in the top of the 11th. That run opened the floodgates as the Indians went on to score 7 in the inning and eventually win 13-6 to tie the series at one game each heading back to Cleveland for the next three games.
Arizona and Colorado resume their NLCS duel today. The Rockies are up 2 games to none in the series, with the next three games in Colorado.
Well, we've got the 49ers and Colts off this weekend. So let's see what our other teams of interest are up to today.
My Raiders are back in action after their BYE week. They head down the coast to San Diego to take on the Chargers, who have disappointed pundits and fans this season. SD did maul Denver last week at Mile High, and one wonders if that's what the Chargers needed to get themselves going. With Oakland coming off the BYE, I'm hopeful that they've got a solid game plan to get a key win on the road. And if you look at the AFC West standings right now today, my Raiders are first in the division! I know it's only after five weeks and it probably won't last, but it's good to see right now today.
The Saints come marching into Seattle today...I'm sorry! I couldn't resist! New Orleans is one of the ofer teams looking to get the first win of the season. The Seahawks are a shaky 3-2 and share the lead in the NFC West with Arizona. Seattle was run out of Pittsburgh last weekend while the Saints lost to Carolina on a last second 53 yard field goal. What gives today? Seattle has a decent defense that has the potential to be very good, and enough offensive weapons to be better than they've shown so far. The Saints have good young talent but have not played up to the potential of last season. I've picked Seattle, but would not be surprised to see New Orleans break out this week.
On CBS this morning I get Tennessee at Tampa, and then on FOX it's Washington at Green Bay. The game of the day is on CBS in the afternoon, New England at Dallas. New Orleans at Seattle is the evening game.
As usual I'll have morning and afternoon observations for you. And don't forget that Turnbaby will certainly be talkin' bout dem Wildcats and the big upset of LSU yesterday. You can tune in live on Blog Talk Radio at 8pm EST.
OooooooRAH!!! Yay DIXIE!! It's awesome for her about Matt--her Marine!
And thanks for the show promo sugar--I think the game this afternoon --Cowboys-Patriots--should be interesting.
And hell yes I am gonna be bleeding BLUE on the show tonight.
