Let's Dance into the semi finals
Posted: Tuesday, November 13, 2007 by Travis Cody inI haven't made it around to everyone's blog tonight. Mr Tucker is upset with me because I have the laptop and he wants in my lap. My shoulder is really bothering me, and so is my lower back. Pam brought KFC mashed potato bowls home for dinner...but there wasn't enough gravy in them and the mashed potato to chicken ratio was off.
HARUMPH!
Other than that it's been a nice evening.
Of course it's about to get better. Know why?
That's right! Cue that theme music!
Live from Hollywood!
Just two weeks from the finals y'all. And it's two more dances each this week.
Here we go with round one.
Jennie and Derek dance Jive. The choreography was difficult. They had a couple of missed holds. It had plenty of energy and she didn't look nervous at all. She threw herself into it and we really enjoyed it. We don't think it was great, but we liked it. Judges say 8's across for a total of 24. Too low.
Cameron and Edyta dance Viennese Waltz. We're Waltzing to the theme from Harry Potter. There is absolutely nothing romantic about this music and there is no romantic connection between the two of them. They danced the steps, but it suffered as a Viennese Waltz. We didn't find it entertaining. The judges raved over it but we didn't like it. Judges say 9's across for a total of 27. Too high.
Marie and Jonathan dance Rumba. Now we thought that was sultry and sexy. It ended kind of abruptly though. She went for the classy elegance. And we thought it had plenty of content and plenty of steps. It wasn't the best Rumba, but it was entertaining and we enjoyed it. Judges say 8's across for a total of 24. Ppppppppffffffffffttttttttttttt.
Helio and Julianne dance Paso Doble. Now that was a wonderful Paso. His technique was much improved. We loved the stomps and the attitude. He was a strong lead, very powerful and intense. Well executed and difficult choreography. Judges say 9's across for a total of 27. Yup.
Mel and Maks dance Tango. The steps were well done, but we didn't really feel that Tango. It was probably the music again. We'll use Bruno's words...it was strong and powerful. And we must agree that the technique was very good. But we just didn't feel the emotion. Judges say 9's across for a total of 27. Meh.
Do you notice a pattern here tonight? We are enjoying the dances that we're connecting with...the ones that entertain us and pull us in. So we liked Marie and Helio in that round. It's tough for us when the music doesn't make sense for the particular dance style. We realize that isn't the dancers' fault. But still, if we don't like the music chances are we don't like the dance.
Mr Tucker has decided to forgive me for not letting him get in my lap. I knew that was bothering you, so you'll be pleased to know that he's curled up between Pam and I and he's purring.
And now it's round two.
Jennie and Derek dance Foxtrot. Beautiful and elegant. She was sexy like a 1940's starlett. Very confident and under control. Her technique on that one was pretty good too. We really enjoyed that. We're tired of listening to the judges pick on her. Judges say 9,9,8 for a total of 26. Come on Bruno! Just give her the 9.
Cameron and Edyta dance Cha Cha Cha. They got jobbed on music tonight. They are trying to Cha Cha Cha to The Stones' Brown Sugar. That's just ridiculous and unfortunate. There wasn't anything they could do with that music. Judges say 8's across for a total of 24. Yeah, because in addition to rotten music for Cha Cha Cha they just didn't dance it well.
Marie and Jonathan dance Jive. It's a cowboy Jive. Now that made us smile. And if that's going to be her last dance on the show, then we're glad she went out with that kind of performance. That was fun and we were entertained. Judges say 8,9,8 for a total of 25.
Helio and Julianne dance Quickstep. They were in very close hold throughout that dance. The footwork was terrific. It had tempo and difficult choreography, and hot tricks. Terrific dance! Lots of energy and extremely entertaining. Judges say 10's across for a total of 30. Yup yup yup.
Mel and Maks dance Mambo. This is right in her wheelhouse. Again, it was difficult and well executed. That was fantastic. They had technique, performance, intensity, and sensuality. Hot hot hot. Judges say 9,10,10 for a total of 29. WTF is up with Carrie Ann??
Here's the leader board after both dances:
57 Helio
56 Mel
51 Cameron
50 Jennie
49 Marie
Please please please can we have some proper music for the dance styles next week for all of the couples???
Pam and I think that Cameron should go. It's not his fault that his music sucked for both dances. Given that, we still don't think he danced well.
We would like to see Marie dance one more week. Don't know if that will happen.
What can I say? I'm a fan dammit and I voted for Marie.
Pam voted for who she thought had the best dances. She said it was a close call between Mel and Helio. She voted for Helio.
Vote for an encore if you like and I'll try to post it. It all depends on whether I can find the video clips.
I'm going to get my heating pad now.
I would like to see the Harry Potter waltz and Mel's good dance.
If you can find them...
Hello Mr T! (Dixie doesn't ASK. He just forces his way onto me and usually onto the computer too. Either that or he'll try to sit on my chest (which is not insignificant but he is HUGE) and it's a tight squeeze.
