Congratulations to Eli Manning, who led the game winning drive to defeat New England in Super Bowl XLII and with it earned the MVP.

Back to back Manning champions and back to back Manning MVPs.

The Giants defense dominated the Patriots like they hadn't been challenged all season.

And now I don't have to go through the next spring and summer months hearing about the greatness of the Patriots.

I should add this is my first sober Super Bowl.

That was an exciting fourth quarter. Yeah, Pats lose - Giants win!

Personally I don't think Eli warrents getting the MVP because of one last winning drive. I'd rather see it awarded to the defensive line, all of them. Those guys played one heck of a game!

    Way to go Roger!

  1. Did you notice Belichick left the field before the final second knee touch was done? Such a sportsman.

  1. Roger: Congrats on a sober SB!

Jeff: That drive makes legends and that's why he got it. But I agree that the game was won by NY's D-line.

Starr: I was on IM with Vinny and trying to finish up my recap, so I missed that. I saw him going to midfield and then I didn't see what else happened.

true....all we will have to listen to is Vinny....laughing...

    well done Roger!

  1. I was jumping up and down at the end there. Belichik hauled ass before the game officially ended. It was ridiculous.Yay Giants!

  1. Glad others nticed his departure...it appears the 'talking heads' have decided to ignore that ...

Katherine...you win and lose with class and dignity...no laughing here...just joy for a group of men who were told they did not have a chance the last 4 games...

But that is why you play the games and do not decide the outcome from the thoughts of the majority...

    Great recaps all day Travis...

  1. Katherine: Vinny is a fan and he deserves his spring and summer of joy.

Kyra: We really enjoyed the result, and that it was a great game. Didn't see the early exit.

V: I will admit to a great deal of glee.

    Fantastic game.

Of course, it's all about the Steelers next year. :)

@starrlight: Belicheat has proven his classlessness and bad sportsmanship over and over again. I'm so glad his golden boys choked!

  1. Vinny DOES deserve his glee. Every sports fan wants that. I know that to this day, I STILL get choked up when I watch the video of Super Bowl XLI, and Jim Nantz says, "The Colts of Indianapolis..." Little old IndiaNOPLACE, NapTown - Super Bowl XLI champs!

While I normally don't rejoice when a large market team (like from NY or LA) wins a championship, I can't help but marvel at the Giants' win this season. All everyone talked about was Patriots history in the making. Well, what about those Manning brothers? For the progeny of a man who never played for a winning NFL team (with all due respect to Papa Archie and the Saints), this is truly history making.

Besides, seeing the look on Bellichik's face was just as sweet as seeing the look on his face after last year's AFC Championship game. Priceless.

  1. Beck: I could say next year it's all about my team, the Raiders, but that would just sound silly.

    Songbird: I'm with you.
