Turnbaby's Question

Saw this during my hiatus as part of an interview over at Turnbaby's place and I had an immediate reaction to it.

What scene from a movie would you recreate in your reality if you could, and what role would you play in that scene?

It is possible to fall in love in a day. My Lady and I did. Not on the first day we met, although I was pretty much a goner in that moment, but we did fall in love with each other during our first date. The song For The First Time by Kenny Loggins is a favorite of ours. The clip is a video for the song, from the movie One Fine Day, starring George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer.

If you haven't seen the movie, it's a romantic comedy about a pair of single parents who meet in the morning and spend the day falling in love through a series of adventures while each tries to manage a major career project around the welfare of his young daughter and her young son. Pam and I aren't single parents and neither of us is as harried and rushed as the characters in the movie, but as you get to about the 4 minute mark of the video, you'll find a bit of the scene we would recreate...the first kiss.

I'm a sucker for a chick flick...excuse me, a good romantic moment in a love story...and this is the one.

We had an evening out last night, so I didn't get a chance to make rounds. I'll catch up with y'all soon!

    Travis, you're a true romantic.

See why all us ladies love you Travis? Really, you are the perfect guy. You really, really are. Pam is lucky, and please tell her. Big hug honey and have a great day. :)

  1. Turnbaby runs a really fun trivia game that I play daily. When I look back at the deeply important men in my life, just how much you knew with that first kiss. Somehow it just works and all the pieces fit. It may take awhile to pass on or get involved with something more serious, but that first kiss always said, "Start".

  1. I can think of a lot more moments I "wouldn't" recreate. The chest burster scene from Alien for example.

  1. Nice Travis...I have to come back later and watch the video...but I understand that feeling.... "this is the woman for me" upon first talking....

    It happened to me also...

I am glad I am not the only married guy that actually likes a good romantic comedey. Sleepless in Seatle, You've Got Mail, Sweet Home Alabama, The Wedding Planner. I'll sit and watch any of them with my wife.

On one of our early dates I took my future bride to see the Franco Zefereli (?) Romeo & Juliet...I thought I'd never get her to quit crying. I know, it's not supposed to be funny, but my bride-to-be was moved beyond words.

  1. Turn: People always tell me that life isn't like the movies...well, there are a few moments in my life that are exactly like a romantic love story in a movie.

Sir John: I like a good war movie as well.

    Jeff: Guilty!

Sandee: Awwww shucks. I'll tell her, but I'm really the lucky one.

Jamie: Sometimes there's a lot of pressure on a first kiss, but ours was natural.

    Charles: Good point.

    Kyra: Hehehe

V: We are two lucky men.

Drilleraa: I saw that version of Romeo & Juliet on tv with a girlfriend...same reaction.

    Akelamalu: LOL!

TC: Michelle is gorgeous! In fact I think she made one of my hot lists.

Knights in White Satin. I love this song and spent many a moony teenage moment listening to it in High School. I am a sucker for the first kiss scene in a movie and don't like the....well...Progression that comes after the kisses. T M I for me, but I like a good romantic kissing scene. I also like what you had to say about your Lady. Jennifer

  1. Awwwwwww...That's tremendously sweet.

    **sigh**

I don't remember the first kiss....and I dare not ask Jeff what it was like. I DO remember coming on to him from across a crowded bar. I remember his shock...yet trying to act cool.

I think that the first kiss resembles being so close it is as if you become one. I remember feeling very dizzy, I could feel my heart beating so hard in my chest and tears were rolling down my cheeks! Geesh...you would have thought it was the first time for something else! Yikes! LOL! I am such a "fluff", but also a sensitive and loving individual. I can't help myself. Moments like a first kiss leave imprints on the heart. In general, it is my belief that you just never forget any of your "firsts". Ahhhhhhhh!
